All these limited give-aways are in the end not worth the effort to fill in personal data, download, install, update, read their newsletters and finally delete them.

afaik in the "corresponding" novation-thread
(maybe 10 days ago...)
there seems to be some sort of change:
novation and focusrite seem to be in sync, i.e.: offer the same freebie...?

Well, it looks like a stripped-down preset player, but I'll probably never know. Version 1.0.0.0 wouldn't load in Cakewalk by Bandlab, and I installed it twice.ChamomileShark wrote: Wed Aug 19, 2020 9:36 am Latest
"We've teamed up with Novation to bring you their latest Sound Collective offer from Krotos Audio, Simple Concept - a flexible, preset-driven plug-in synth with rich customisation options, capable of serving up an infinite range of beefed-up basses, searing leads, rich pads, sumptuous keys and ear-catching FX."
Anything special about it? I think all the synths I have were marketed as being able to produce "searing leads".
The installer installs the VST2 and VST3 versions (you don't get to choose which one you want, only where they go). Cakewalk's Plug-in Manager crashed when scanning the VST3 version (both times). The VST2 version won't load in Cakewalk, with an error saying the plug-in isn't installed correctly. Un-installing and re-installing it doesn't help.
This could be because I'm on Win7 and the "tech spec" says the plug-in requires Win10. It doesn't say that during the installation, however; I had to go back to the website to dig up anything I could on it.
YMMV, of course.

I appreciate the generosity of Focusrite as they've given us some pretty cool plugins in the past but this one doesn't seem like it's worth the bother.
If it was Krotos' idea that this would inspire people to buy the full version I'm afraid it might have backfired on them. The sounds in the video are just dead common.

Loaded this in Cubase, it locked up and took Cubase down. Time to uninstall I think.

Cubase is known to be buggy. Try a real DAW. This is way better than 'one ping only' imho.
