On or before December 30, but Squids wrote this on the last page:
Squids wrote:Hmmm... we might be able to release the Infinite Player and bonus multitrack kit, EZ Player pro (the bonuses for hitting 300) a little early like beginning of next week. That way you could get started with both this kit not running in demo mode and also the bonus kits... but before I say that we can do that officially let me check with the guys and make sure that's okay to do without it becoming a mess for them. Just so you know, I am always here talking to you all on the forum and doing things for you and then often I get grumbles from Allen and the team because they're the ones who have to manage it on the back end... but they really don't mind and know that we put the customer first. Whatever it takes on our end it takes. We just want to be able to keep track of it and do it in an organized way though is all. A challenge for a custom product that changes over the course of the month but it can be done and we've done a lot of these group buys before so... let's see. The goal is to make you all happy!

Not quite; as I understand it (starting from scratch):
  1. you would install Sonic Reality's "Infinite Player plug-in powered by Kontakt"
  2. then install NI's Service Center (if not already installed)
  3. then install the Drum Kits from the Group Buy using a Library Installer supplied by Sonic Reality (this will put the kit component files in all the right places)
  4. then use Service Center to unlock the Kits by Authorizing Infinite Player, using the Serial Number from Sonic Reality
  5. when you then start Kontakt the Library should show up in the list, but you may need to browse to the sounds library
[At least, that is how it was for the previous Infinite Player products, I imagine that it is the same for this GB.]

If you already have Kontakt Player 3.5 or 4 installed you can use that app to play the Kits. Here is a Kit in the IP Library in Kontakt Player 3.5:

People often recommend that, when Infinite Player (or any Kontakt-based app) is first installed, the standalone program is started first to configure it and browse to the Library, if needed, and only then is the VSTi used.

DarkStar That's what I thought but when I hit the instruments underneath, I see nothing at all. I guess I need to find the folder...Incidently I'm just getting to the old DM GB. I' a slow learner. To me Kontakt is harder than Sonar and that's hard  I belong back in the 60's where tape was king and I was happy  Thanks again. I'll probably ask this question a bazillion more times. It's like an Odysee... I see the end but just don't know how to get there, one day I will

Hi gang, here's a quick update on the bonus MIDI content from ODDGROOVES:

I just hand picked 150 of our grooves as bonus content for this group buy and it turns out to be a pretty neat selection that will sound great both for the odd and the straighter side of rock. And there are some heavier ones in there as well (not death metal-style, more in the vein of Porcupine Tree or Spock's Beard).

All grooves are played live by Berklee educated pro drummer Magnus Brandell, who is the other half of OddGrooves. His focus is drumming and my focus is… well, everything else :-)

You can see him play in 44/16 time (yes, really) here, although he is kinda out of sight (I'm the guy to the right in the Mellotron T-shirt :) ):

And here he's grooving in 13/8:

The time signatures covered in the bonus material are 3/4, 4/4, 5/4, 6/4, 7/4, 5/8, 6/8, 7/8, 9/8, 11/8, 12/8, 13/8, 15/8, 17/8 and 19/16, although the emphasis is 4/4. There are fills, hihat and ride variations, snare and offbeat grooves and some polyrhythmic stuff. And it is mapped for both I-MAP and General MIDI.

This is of course just a tiny portion of all our MIDI content (we have over 7000 grooves in all) and for those who want to upgrade to the full set we will offer a very generous discount - exclusive for participants of this group buy.

More on that in a few days. Now let's get to 400!

Cheers,
Per

Here's a guess:
-- the Infinite Player banner appears if Kontakt finds that Ip is installed and Authorized
-- no Instrument appears if the Library folder is not found (or has not been added to Kontakt)

Do you need to add the folder path to the path list in [Options] >> Search/DB ?
And, possibly, rebuild the Database (in the Kontakt Browser, Database tab)

363 enrollees, so far.

Great explanation, DarkStar! Modern software can get so complicated!

I am still thinking about how to do this fun early trial with the OWD Kit 10m for those that are anxious to mess around with the new features of this GB. I just want to make sure it will go smooth even for people who never tried Kontakt before. So either today or tomorrow (Sun or Mon) we'll see if we can find the best way to do this. I may do some more tutorial type posts to help walk you through it too.

By the way, seeing Bob freak out kind of made me pause on throwing a trial experiment out on everybody. I am anxious to find out what the deal was when Allen helps him troubleshoot on Monday. It may very well be isolated to him and his set up and not be relevant to anyone else. Normally there's not that much tech support over Kontakt-based stuff at least as far as we've experienced so that's good. But there are a lot of people in this group buy and we'll try to round up frequently asked questions AND frequent things that people do that cause problems if we can as well... or other concerns for anyone who gets frustrated with technology or is new to plug-ins etc. As long as you're patient and don't lose your cool. Even a friend like Bob can unleash the fury and we understand. We didn't make Kontakt and service center and system itself isn't perfect. But it is still the most popular sampler people use and it wouldn't be if it didn't work so... each person's set up is different and anything can happen. We DO recommend that you have at least 2 gigs of ram (in the system requirements) and that you don't have too much else running at the same time... most of all it is important to read and follow the instructions for installation (particulary about not unzipping the libraries but using our library installer by drag and dropping the zip file... and also making sure you've downloaded the FULL zip and not a partial download ... these are common mistakes).

I know there are more newbies on this GB than usual so we'll all try to help as much as we can so everyone can enjoy it. Thanks.

Squids wrote:I haven't posted the NKM yet. I will this weekend though but before we unleash it on everyone perhaps I can try it out with a few people to see if it loads without having to search (not that it is a big deal to search the samples but the less steps the better).
If you want me to help out with this, I can. I'm just hanging around and working on my own music projects, so I can give it a whirl if you need something tested.

My hi-hat pad for the V-drums arrived yesterday. I will pick it up tomorrow and get my V-kit happening again. Yabba Dabba Doo!

If you have a problem with Kontakt Player you can always post on NI's Kontakt forums, or even right here on kvr. There are a lot of people to help. The problems are usually easy to solve, as long as you know what to do. I have Kontakt 2 & 3, and I have several Kontakt Player instruments. No problems (knock on wood). That said, NI has a way of doing things, and you have to do it their way. And that can be complicated until you get used to it. That may be what you need help with.

BTW, I have a separate drive for samples. I keep my Kontakt, IK, and Wusik Station samples on the drive. That works for me.

And... we're at 368 right now.
