I dig how they are leaning into the live performance aspect and for both stage and recording being that I'm keyboardist. Can't please everyone but if I had a pain point with Studio One I definitely let the devs know and use their upvote system as well. I bought an M1 a month ago and was hoping for native Apple Silicon support hopefully Rosetta supports mean something with third-party plugins. This is my first Mac by the way. Been producing on the PC for 30 years now.

Yep. I think people are being over critical. They added some nice features. Here's hoping the crash reporter will have enough detail to let me know what the hell keeps crashing S1 on my end.

I like the arranger launcher thingy. Sure some here wanted clips but I personally don't use clips in Ableton that much and in Logic/Bitwig I just use it to store things I don't want cluttering the arranger. I can do that in S1 with the Scratch pad.

The real game changer for me in S1 is being able to Transform external instruments. YES! Sometimes I use the same synth and layer it, but having to do that manually is a chore, with multiple tracks and me basically typing in the patch name as the track name. Now I can get total recall on transformed instruments with Program Changes in the actual track transform. I also don't have to have the midi track and audio track. It can be one track. Nice! I will definitely use that one a bit.

The midi editing tools look cool. I never really had an issue switching tools but it definitely speeds up the workflow a bit.

The splitter tool was always annoying in S1, glad to see that you can at least tell what's happening now but I don't think they went far enough with it imo. The plugins should be embedded in the Splitter view imo, that way you can roll that up and clean up the mixer view.

I also think they should do something about the Channel view for both Multi-instruments and mixer. They should make those parameters more easily accessible in the UI. I don't I know anyone who even knows that view exists or maps anything in the Channel Editor. It's clunky to get to, way too hidden and its a bit of chore to map stuff there.

Notation is not my thing but it's nice to see them making it more featured. Sometime Presonus adds things and forgets they are there (like the Channel Editor).

Overall for a 5.2 update I quite like it. Presonus always kind of focuses on no frills updated. They don't put in a whole lot of fluff like "Now with 10GB more sounds", it's always actual features even if they are not useful to everyone. I definitely appreciate that.

Yes, it would be great if it was something more like a container and if we were able to save presets like with other plug-ins.

In my experience, DAW updates tend to focus on certain workflows/features/use-cases...so there's either a lot in them for you, or they're completely meh for a while. I'm really impressed with the 5.0 release cycle so far, it's what I hoped 4.0 would've been. I bet the folks that hate it, probably liked the 4.0 release cycle, which I just wasn't feeling.

That said, I'm still using Reaper full-time. But with these latest updates, I'd probably rate Studio One back above Cubase. For me personally of course.

It is surprisingly good, and easy to use. I think you'll like it a lot.

It stopped working for me with macOS 11.2 but hopefully they get that solved soon.

I was just chatting with my brother and said that I'm going to create a KVR bingo game for all the predictable responses people post after announcements/releases. You covered two of them in one sentence. So damn funny.

Seriously? It's massive for people who deal with orchestral composition - score integration and all those keyswitching features are enormous improvements. While I don't know much about the workflow for this kind of music, it does seem like S1 is a way more viable alternative to Cubase now, and Cubase is the most popular DAW for this kind of work.

It's about the only thing I've said about Studio One in three months... my life is in an incredible amount of mental turmoil atm that even posting here my thoughts, takes so much effort and to even watch and read these forums now. I use to dedicate a huge amount of time to Studio One since 2014 on forums till last year.

So, are there any bugs remained we should be aware of?

Personally, in my simple workflow, I haven't encountered any, but I'm using mainly few soft synths with NI Battery or Addictive Drums.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I don't use Studio One, but this looks like an impressive free update to me. Lots of ongoing development work.

People use Sibelius, Finale od Dorico for serious scoring work. Admittedly, a lot can be done in Cubase's or S1's notation.

I find it useful to have S1 generate guitar tab from my midi input, great if you have a guitarist coming round to jam with you a play a part live in to your track.
