Hello, Dexed is truly amazing. Many thanks to the developer(s). :)

One question (sorry if this has been answered already, I did not read the entire thread): Is there a manual? I am particularly interested in editing the ADSR curves. How can this be accomplished?

Many thanks.

DX7 doesn't have ADSR envelopes, it has time/level envelopes. They are editable by the knobs below the envelope displays (EG level, EG rate).

For manuals, use a DX7 manual. All controls are basically the same.

Thanks. :tu:

Some forum members may recall that, about a year ago, I started work on a user guide specifically for Dexed. the guide ( still woefully incomplete) is now up on GitHub, any person who wishes to make additions, corrections. suggestions etc may do so, its a public repo so be nice, ;-)

having said that sorry for all those who have been waiting, wondering, sneering with indignation, etc.;-)

HAPPY DEXEDING!!!!!!

Regarding TX816: why don't you use a host that can load multiple instances of a VST/AU and spread them in the pan? For Mac AU Lab or MainStage comes to my mind.

Another idea though: it would be nice if the current version would be displayed somewhere in Dexed. I've got several versions of Dexed now on my computer and I sometimes don't know which one I loaded :-)

And I think it has been mentioned earlier: it would be nice if one could turn on/off single oscillators without having to silence them with the volume control, because when comparing sounds I always have to write down the original volume so I don't forget it. That's a real drag, actually.

With some patches, only Modern (24-bit) sounds like the DX7 with Mark I and OPL doing basically something completely different. Has this always been like this? I'm on Dexed 0.9.1. and Mac 10.10.4.

Dexed has become so close to the DX7 now, most patches are really indistinguishable. I have headphones on and a DX7 first generation on the right and Dexed on the left channel and mostly I hear just one instrument in the middle of my head. I find that really impressive!

sebber regarding the point outlined below.

have you raised an issue in github with the dev?

Its a good point that you make, especially if you are working with complex patches involving more than simple 2 op arrangements.

Umm, sorry, but where is it? You forgot to provide a link or I'm too blind to see it. It's not in Dexed's repository?

It would be cool if there was a second window with overlapping envelopes each a different color and node based editing. There is no real need for the antiquated rate-level envelope gui control if that can be translated in software. The DX had not the benefit of 2016 virtual instrument software GUI. If the guts stay compatible with the old presets then why not make FM even easier and put node editable envelopes in?

Anyone know where the patches used in the video are to be found?

Some are from the 32 built in banks, some are from Blackwinny's cartridge found here : http://asb2m10.github.io/dexed/.

It's already there. If you start dexed, the first thing it shows in the text box is the version running. In the 0.9.1 version, if you click on the dexed logo, you will have the about window that shows the current version.

In the sysex, this info is not stored, it simply puts the op level to 0 when it if off. Guess I'll add that in the next version. I just need to find where I could put the switch on the UI. Maybe on the numbers that turns darker when it is off... I don't know.

To me, Mark I is the closest. Check the "Say Again" and "SloSwl //Y" with a real DX7, the feedback level on the Modern one is definitely not the same. If you see a difference, I would like to know which one sounds more on par with the "Modern" engine. :phones:

And thanks pathworker for the Dexed guide, I'll add a link on the website.

Feedback:
When i use the cutoff it always emits a small pop at around 80% right (knob position) regardless of the patch.
