I've seen plenty of documentaries and sci-fi flicks,
and I never once associated Hive with any space ship,
real or imagined. And the Hive sounds would have had to be
exceedingly mundane in order to distracted/bored enough
to contemplate whether or not spacecraft designers
have stolen concepts from the U-he graphics designers.

After thinking about Hive gui, without looking at it,
I would associate it with chemistry, instead of space travel.

I remember trying Alpha earlier this year with a bit of compression and reverb and it sounded incredible. This thing is going to be so great.

Surprisingly EvilDragon is totally wrong here. Don't listen to him! That diagonal light reflection thing is perfect as is. Please do not change it! 8)

Well that's just my humble opinion. I don't like it and find it distracting.

I didn't notice it until you mentioned it... Now I see it all the time. :)
I will take the Lord's name in vain, whenever I want. Hail Satan! And his little goblins too.

I also dislike that "lightning" crossing the image. IMO it would be better without it. Some lightning effects come completely out of place (Diversion new GUI, anyone?)

there will still be the gamma options, so you could lower them to have a darker GUI.

That's not the point - the GUI is just the right amount of contrast, I don't feel it needs to be darker, it just doesn't need that accent in such a blatant manner.

+1

I concur about the Diversion GUI also, which took the gorgeously tasteful (IMO) 'Tantra' aesthetic OTT.

I agree with toning down the "reflective" light. Generally I'd prefer a darker background and a less fuzzy "resolution" (but the visual fuzziness can be said of most u-he synths IMO...just personal opinion). The GUI is kinda brown, and not a cool slate gray like in the realistic angled render posted earlier. Pity. Anyway, at least u-he GUIs are easy to tweak to taste! :)

But what I dislike the most is the unnecessary top view of the input/output jacks at the back of the synth! Too Arturia Jupiter 8! Yikes!
Unless there's any practical reason for seeing the back panel jacks (like some sort of modular patching, which I doubt) can we rather just pretend they don't exist and cut the top of the GUI off at the end of the front panel? That and perspective-ing are my biggest skeuomorphic turn-offs!

Oh no! This is terrible!

Before you pointed to it nobody minded and now everybody does.

It's hardly 'blatent'.

Maybe when you see the GUI in full resolution you will change your mind.

Urs please keep it as it is. If you are going to listen to these people please make it tweakable / optional so that the lighting can be turned on / off. I like it as is.

We should continue the UI discussion once people have it right in front of them.

There might be changes still, I don't know.
