I don't even want to know what this patch, which pins my needle at 30%, would do to my PC with 5 voices of polyphony.
Nobody would force you to use the Jaws FX with a polyphonic version of you do not like the result. At the same time others would maybe like the result. Somehow Schwa Olga comes to my mind now. and i got the Oligarc FX Suite here including the Olga Drive FX... :)

For doing sound design "from scratch" having an option for polyphony would make sense for sure. like it did with The Legend.
Well, it's all kind of moot anyway. Urs has made his decision, for whatever reasons. I think we're all going to just have to wait for Repro-5 to get a polyphonic version of this thing.

Because I already have so many synths that are polyphonic, for me Repro's lack of polyphony has never been an issue for me. Matter of fact I rarely use Legend in polyphonic mode. However the no aftertouch, velocity sensitivity and lack of dedicated lfo (all from the original) on Legend is way more a limitation for me than lack of polyphony in Repro-1. Certainly the minimoog remakes allow these to be done.
Hopefully the rumours that Richard is working on adding at least some of these to Legend are true.

Just used the Schwa Oligarc Drive with one of my polyphonic Synth Brass factory presets in The Legend. Crazy stuff but sounds great... :)

MONARK as monophonic always did also not intrest me.

Not Weird... when I heard that it was monophonic I just went.... ho hum pass... next... synth1 on the other hand as a synth has to me musically more value than Repro1.... on the other hand The Legend as polyphonic is simply AMAZING!! :D

Another one who's missing the point. :D

Let your money do the talking.

sorry to piss some people off but if a patch is too thick just dont make it thick?

what more arguments come up?....

nobody forces one to buy Repro-1 but im just disappointed about this limitations which are nonsense.
like in computer games, you had many options in the past and it was awesome to try them out etc. even if many pc'S werent so capable of max out graphics why limit it? yeah today they do it cause gamers are a bigger crowd and many dont have a clue.... but with vsts?
again i have better more options than less... imma demo THE LEGEND, i wanna hear how different it is from GFORCE Minimoog which i got.

Sometimes it's just the character of the synth. The oscillators in Monark for example are thick and have girth that you can't really get rid of unless you filter or EQ the shit out it, but after that it's not the same synth anymore, it's a processed clusterfuck that doesn't sound as it was intended to sound.

I agree that you probably won't be able to get the best ultrasaw out of a Minimoog, because of the thick oscillator sound. I don't get how that would be an argument pro monophony though. Overlapping notes on lead sounds, or pads are always an option. Never when the synth is monophonic though, unless you "cheat" polyphony, by doing routing which would never have been possible with the original device.

Anyway, Urs stated why they thought it was a good design decision. Others and me disagree, fair enough. :P Such a strict emulation wouldn't be my cup of tea anyway in most cases, monophonic or not.

Monark can be edited to play polyphonic if one got full reaktor! Youtubes videos for it

This is a track created using a 4 voice Moog Slim Phatty poly-chain:

As alraedy mentioned i had owned a single Slim Phatty myself and was able to play wit ha poly-chain at Musikmesse (at the Moog Music booth).

The Synth Brass in that video seemed to be done using the 2-Pole filter mode. The Legend offers a 2-Pole (= 12dB) filter mode too and one of my polyphonic Synth Brass presets in the factory content uses teh 12dB filter mode too.

6-voice poly-chain:
