My latest hardware acquisition is a Roland Alpha Juno 2. I have also recently bought a Roland Juno 6, and a Roland SH-101. Since buying hardware again after many years I have hardly touched any software stuff, except for a new interest in samplers - so I can sample the hardware.

There is definitely something different about the connection you get to hardware that software can never quite reach. At least for me anyway.

Nice, "hoovering" up some classics there!

Yeah, I get your meaning. :)

Its early days with the Alpha juno yet, but it does the classic "hoover" sounds great, and I found a site where you can download patches that are dedicated to that type of sound .

Until I bought the Alpha Juno I did not realise that it has a much more sophisticated envelope generator than the Juno 6 has which explains partially why the Alpha Juno can do that sound when the Juno 6 doesn't. And of course the Alpha Juno has more wave shapes. I still like the Juno 6 better though even despite that it is much more basic with no presets and no velocity or aftertouch.

Just bought an MKS-50 which is the same as Alpha Juno. It sounds awesome, and the playability is much better than my other 4 voice synths. But I have never owned a synth this old, now how do I load presets into it :hihi: :hihi:

I guess you already know the information that follows, but others might find it interesting ................

Its very easy to load presets into these old hardware synths using the free software editor found at Ctrlr.org. (https://ctrlr.org/). Using the dedicated panel for your synth, patches can be loaded quite easily. And of course there are a number of software editors for the i-pad that also do the job.

Patches can be found at http://llamamusic.com/mks50/mks-50_patches.html

Didn't the " EML Synkey" actually use punched cards to load patches ?

Ok, pre-ordered the Black Corp Rachel as it's finally possible to do that, it will go with my Black Corp Deckard's Voice. So I will be all set when I order another Deckard's Voice at some point. 8)

This appears to be everything I’ve ever wanted in a MIDI guitar, especially how it handles bending notes via a ‘fretboard scanner’

except it’s three grand and there’s a 6 month to a year build lead time. C’mon bigger makers please rip this off.
