Hmm, Hopefully we will hear more on this.

hi all/g200kg,
been a long time i worked with knobman.
so i have the latest jknobman installed. there was that feature, where one can drag the knob in testmode out of the knobman window, onto, say skinman, to see how it would look on the gui background...
in knobman that was done by rightclick/hold -> dragging iirc. how is that achieved in jknobman? i can't seem to get it to work...
thanks in advance...

Is the .knob file format specified anywhere? Or can it only be read by knobman?

I have some knobman knob designs here (CCBY):

I assumed the dev gave up long ago. Very sad actually - but so it seems.

Seems the way of all things digital. His web site is still up tho not updated in a while. Fortunately I've managed to solve both my issues so all is good for now.

Yeah... I'd really wish he'd keep up with knobman and skinnan. If he did, gui design would be a lot easier. Scalable vector graphics, SVG support and better antialiasing and these two programs would
still go a long way. Sad...

By the way, there is an alternative to KnobMan - a free graphic editor “Knob Studio”.

Image

This program is an analogue of the famous Knob Man from g200kg, however, it is devoid of many of the disadvantages inherent in the latter, such as the need for a Java virtual machine, the impossibility of entering fractional numbers in Russian-speaking Windows and slow operation. In addition, Knob Studio has more functionality, such as “Stroke” and “Blur” effects, smoother animation curves, an improved vector shape editor, and much more.
Knob Studio has the ability to import files from Knob Man (* .knob) for further work and rendering the result. In addition, the distribution includes 100 examples (in the “Samples” folder), which you can modify and use at your discretion.

Download Knob Studio 1.1k (11 MB)

In addition - a vintage arrow indicator made in this program, in animated PNG format.

I read that - though have not tried it yet - can one ovelay the animated knob onto a gui that"s in the making in another programm? That is possible in the non-java based Knobman from g200kg - and it's a godsent feature, as it allows one to see the knobs kinda "integrated" in the rest of the gui. Which does wonders.
And is the antialiasing improved over the g200kg knobman? That was one of the shortcomings of knobman.

Btw - great vu meter.

Knob Studio is written in Delphi, and uses a graphics engine based on the Graphics32 library, which performs antialiasing quite efficiently.

In the project settings, you can set the amount of oversampling and the resampler kernel.
