I thought I had kicked the habit of guitar buying. I still look. Thank goodness guitars aren't wives. I'd be dead.
I said probably the last guitar I will 'buy', or at least the last brand new guitar I will buy for me (who knows what I might see on ebay), I could buy another Daion if I found a deal, or an Alamo El Doardo which is the biggest piece of crap ever but also my first guitar. Of course I should have said that to start with because also I could buy more guitars for my daughter and now she's showing interest in the bass.

That does not mean I wont be building more guitars for me. Like I said this has a feature I can do without a machine shop...it's a neck-thru :tu:

If they were they'd stop you buying any more and give away the ones you have...

and the ends of the strings from when you cut them off would hurt like hell when they go down on you

I'd have 30 wives!

My cheapest wives would get the most action! They'd be lying around my office ready for use while the expensive ones would all be kept in cases so not to get damaged!

Dimarzio makes some badass wife upgrades, just avoid the Steve Vai models!

Some wives have slim necks for faster action while others have fat necks for better tone!

Somebody get me the wife equivalent of my Gretsch Mini Diddley!

Not a Schecter? I swear I remember seeing something similar that they made.
:) It's been my thing for the last half a year or so to be an ibanez only guy. I catch a bit of fun for it.
Ibanez! My bad. I look at a lot of guitars. Have you checked out RondoMusic for some decent well made guitars? Some pretty cool models actually. Not big bucks.

I hear you as I strum my Supreme...But still one of my best guitars is one of those (sorry forgetting the model right now) semi-hollow rickenbacker looking things. ;)

Then again as I look back to the days where I said "No one ever needs more than one guitar" (with my angry face - haha) I have come to realize that even the crappiest guitars have their own sounds. And you know what? End the end? It comes down to the pickups more than anything.

This looks nice, but I really really really want a hard tail and that wizard neck I like so much. And it's really versatile with the pickup (and I've a "shred" guitar with emgs)

But still, it's really nice looking. I'll look into it.

Hid my man. I am not trying to sell you! Haha. Just trying to help ya out. You've gotta pick out what's right for you!

As far as the looks of those two, they both look good. But the neck is a BIG deal. If you are comfortable with the Wizard profile, and that's what helps you to play better - no doubt wizard super duper thin all the way!

Plus, they both have 24 frets!

Anyway, I was more playing on the blasphemy thing about non "name brand" (whatever that means) guitars.

I'm an "Ibanez only" guy as well (except for acoustics).

There's a pretty massive gap between the levels of Ibanez's. My two Prestige models are solid - they feel like bolt-on neck PRS's - whereas my RG420 feels pretty cheezy, despite being made in Japan. That said, my favorite Ibanez is my '92 RG550, the build quality is nearly on the Prestige level yet it's not so precious that I have to treat it with kid gloves. That guitar with a Dimarzio Norton in the bridge is the closest I've gotten to EVH's tone.

The bridge makes a big deal. For example, I downgraded my #1 strat from boutique Kinman pickups to cheap Fender noiseless pickups and simultaneously upgraded the bridge from the light stock Fender to a heavy steel aftermarket thing. The guitar because snappier and more resonant acoustically and this fully transmits through the pickups. The bridge upgrade is what made that guitar my #1.

Bridge makes and even bigger deal on a bass. Replacing a bridge can have a huge impact on the sound when you put something heavier on.
