An idiot on Set Theory:

Can somebody please do me a favor?

Please read the warning in red on this page and tell me if it's clear enough.

Your incentive is a free preset you can download. It's in the middle of all that writing in red.

Softube really needs to create an internal browser for this thing before I totally lose it.

IMO, everything being red sort of neutralize the effect.
May be just having those ones in red would make it more obvious/bring the attention?

I guess. I honestly don't know anymore. I'm at my wits end with this thing. Every sale (and there are a lot of them) is another adventure. I'm ready to just take it off the market. It's just not worth all the aggravation.

It seems very clear to me. I'll give the preset a try when I'm near my computer.
I wish I could sing as well as the voices inside my head...

If such an interest exist, I don't thing that giving up now would be a good idea.
May be wish for an update at some point, I suppose that Softube is well aware of this limitation.
Are we talking about something out of reach concerning patch management for some technical reasons?
I must say I know little about SM since I don't own it but I read some pretty good comments about your patchs, deserve some patience I suppose.

Here is the problem. I'll explain it as clearly as I can.

Softube Modular ships with a number of presets. But in reality, they're worthless. The reason is because all of these presets are built into SM's VST itself. In other words, if you deleted all the presets off your hard drive, these presets would still load because they're hard wired into the VST.

With me so far?

Okay. Now, SM does NOT have an internal browser like most VSTs where you can create your own folders, etc. and load presets from those folders. You can only load presets that are either built in OR that you create yourself. How those are handled internally, I'm not sure. In Cubase, they're physically stored in the Softube default location.

So how does this affect 3rd party libraries? As they are not built into the VST and not created by the user through SM itself, and since SM doesn't have an internal browser, the ONLY way to load them is if your DAW has an external load file option that can load an fxp, fxb or vst3preset file that ultimately imports that file into SM, thus allowing you to use it.

It turns out that some DAWs don't have such an option and thus won't load 3rd party libraries.

That is the situation in a nutshell and it is ridiculously annoying.

I downloaded the fxb, followed the instructions, and had no trouble loading to Modular running in SONAR Platinum. The preset sounds really good by the way, without adding any external effects.

I have to agree, Modular needs a preset browser. I really can't understand why they didn't do it before release; as you pointed out, not all DAWs can load fxp/fxp files, so I have to wonder how extensively they tested in as many hosts as possible. This is a great-sounding synth with a lot of possibilities, but I think they really dropped the ball in this area.

Dropped the ball is a major understatement. They totally screwed the pooch on this one. And don't get me wrong, I love this synth. I had a blast programming it and have had a ton of compliments on my library, which is selling like mad. But that's becoming a bigger headache than it's worth. I honestly don't know how much longer I can go on before I just pull the page down.

Some soft synth need to import presets so you could use it.
My understanding is that SM doesn't offer such a converter.
At least, an import functionality would make it, but in a much less conveniently manner then a browser would do?

Well, they have to do something. Anything.

Put the onus on Softube and make it clear that if any support is required to load your presets the customer has to contact them.

Otherwise you are acting as part of their support team by having to deal with these sorts of queries.

Do they pay you?
No

They themselves have stated how well the plugin has sold so its time they fixed this issue and theyve had 7 months since release to sort it, let alone the development and testing period :x
