No apology needed. Just one clarification. Both of the zip archives (The PC link and the Mac Link) have a MAC folder inside. Do I delete the MAC folder from the PC folder?
FathomSynth wrote:Scotty,
The email says no licence required for the Fathom but a licence code is included.
>> No KVR license code is required (That message is from KVR).
>> The Fathom serial number is necessary to unzip version update downloads, which require an unzip password.
The webpage indicates that I need to put the licence code in to decompress the archive but no licence code was needed.
>> The license code is necessary to unzip version updates, not the payed product.
>> If you pay for the product the first zip file you receive does not require a password.
>> The reason for this is that if someone pays for the product I do not think they should have to deal with a password.
>> A password is necessary only for the version update files since anyone can down load them.
Can I get a basic set of installation instructions?
>> Yes, please download the latest manual here: https://www.fathomsynth.com/doc
>> Section 12.1 "Quick Start" applies to any OS and only takes a minute.
>> If need more specific instructions on windows please read section 12.3.1.
>> It even provides specific installation information on Ableton, Cubase, FL Studio, and Reaper.
>> There is also an installation video on Youtube under Fathom Synth.
The installation directions are only specific in regards to MAC.
>> There are specific installation instructions for both Mac and Windows in the manual.
I'm sorry if this all seems complex. The reason I provide this information is because people ask it.
If you are an experienced musician or producer and you have a lot of plugins and are use to installing them,
then all you need to know is the manual section 12.1 "Quick Start", which is one paragraph.
It says basically this, unzip the download, enter your password if it is an update,
put the Fathom folder anywhere you want, it doesn't matter where, browse to it in Fathom, done.

I don't extract the mac folder, just Fathom vst and Program plus Waves folders to the correct location.Scotty wrote:No apology needed. Just one clarification. Both of the zip archives (The PC link and the Mac Link) have a MAC folder inside. Do I delete the MAC folder from the PC folder?

You're most welcome.FathomSynth wrote:Teksonik, I just have to thank you for basically saving Fathom.![]()
After enabling the "64" thing, Fathom now shows up on the master plugin list on page 10.
All these months I wondered where it was, and why no one seemed to know about it.

SM, I found the cause of your problem with the oscillator pan not modulating the mod amount.
Bug 0053 Oscillator pan dial not modulating if the mod amount is modulated by a midi control signal.
The fix will be in the next release 2.1.0
RPH for your problem wave table not animating (BUG 0054) I loaded your preset and switched back and forth on the wave index between the sequencer and RSH, and the animation was solid.
You'll have to give me more to go on for that one.
Also, it sounds cool, but the waves are not single cycle, you may want to trim them in Audacity first before importing them.
original flipper, you really should try it. Delete a few other things, and step through Scrubbing Monkeys and RPH's presets in Pro Audio and Pro Cinematic folders, you will thank us.

Sorry, my bad. There isn't a problem with the animation, I was switching between apps and forgot to set a note in Renoise ( just used my keyboard to listen to the sound ).FathomSynth wrote: RPH for your problem wave table not animating (BUG 0054) I loaded your preset and switched back and forth on the wave index between the sequencer and RSH, and the animation was solid.

OK, I trimmed to what I think are the single cycle waveforms and imported them again.
Cheers!

Everett, FYI check this video.
I wanted to add a modulator to the cutoff of my LPF, but there are no modulators available..
It's in the preset i'm working on, so other parameters do have modulators added.
Fathom 64bit, used in Renoise.
I removed Fathom, then inserted it again and did the same action. Now I do see the modulators to choose from.

Wow what a great synth! Very impressed. Instant purchase. It looks like it has a great developer too with great customer service. Thank you for quickly responding to bug reports and looking properly at feature requests. Im sure I will start to add to these in the coming months.
I am a sound designer and work closely with Melda Production (which also has a great developer)
I would just like to respectfully offer my opinion on the future of Fathom:
OSCILLATORS, OSCILLATORS and OSCILLATORS!
I really respect the decision to be a pure synth with no sampling functionality. Currently, the OSCs are awesome.
However, personally, I wouldn't spend any more precious time on FX. Global FX can be added after the synth in the chain from any other manufacturer which will always be far more flexible than your FX (unless you can quickly make every possible FX in the marketplace)
I would advise to concentrate only on per voice FX like your distortion and detune.
I hope to see more OSCs added too. Maybe some exciter/resonating, ray tracing and other rare techniques not often found in synths.
I can see myseft using this synth, it is already great and I have a good feeling that it will get much better. Great work!

RPH, for the modulator disappearing act, try scrolling over the window to see if they were scrolled out of view.
But it is still a bug, I will make sure that does not happen in 2.1.0.
jmg8, Thanks so much for your comments. Yes, we are still looking for more sound designers. Right now it is a volunteer position, but later in 2018 as sales increase that will change. I would ultimately like to see about $10 per preset going to sound design. Just make a few for now so I can keep you on the radar.
Oscillators, great minds think alike, you will be happy to know that release 2.2.0 will be all work on just the oscillators, more details later.
Mac Users, several of you reported problems with Fathom on Mac OSX. I'm still working on those issues and will get you fixes as soon as I can (Nirto, Danny, jue, iU).

I think he's referring to touch screen Windows tablets or monitors.

Ah I see.
This was more luck than design, but I think Fathom would be ideal for a touch screen.
Why?
1. There are not context menus anywhere in Fathom, None! I hate them and refuse to use them.
This means everything is accessed from visible controls (perfect for touch screen).
2. No Mouse Right-Click Necessary.
Anticipating Mac users, I can't think of anything on the interface that even requires a right click.
Also perfect for a touch screen.
3. Resizable GUI
The GUI is re-sizable to any size (not just set sizes), also perfect for tablets.
4. Dials already provide finest precision by tapping above and below the knob.
I would be curious to hear what someone would report who has their studio on a touch screen and uses Fathom.

Yes, it works great on a touchscreen. No issues at all. And yes there is multitouch. I was able to move both the XY pads at the same time. All the knobs are big enough for it to not feel clumsy.
