cheers dude so am i right in saying in essence its like a fine tune thresholdFunkybot's Evil Twin wrote:It sets the maximum amount of gain reduction that will actually take place. So if I understand it correctly Full would be the full range of gain reduction, and 10db will set the maximum amount of gain reduction that can take place at 10db. So Full would get you more compression, whereas lesser settings would yield less reduction.sureno wrote:me 3DrGonzo wrote:Yay! Anyone can explain the range knob?

No. Range works on the "top" parts of the signal so to speak. Say you have a signal with two peaks in it, one at 0dBfs and one at -12 dBfs. With range set to max, ratio to 10:1 and threshold to -20, the 0dBfs peak would be compressed 18dB, and the -12dbfs peak would be compressed slightly more than 7dB. If you would set range to 10dB, the 0dBfs peak would only be compressed 10dB, but the -12dB peak would still be compressed slightly more than 7dB. (if I understand it correctly)sureno wrote: cheers dude so am i right in saying in essence its like a fine tune threshold :?
This is not the same as adjusting threshold, it kind of sets a cap on how much a peak can be compressed.

Na, not really.living sounds wrote:I think I can one up that - for extremely over the top compression listen to my heavily customized dual 1176:Shy wrote:Here is an addition to the processed samples (of living sounds's dry ones), a compressor I think is much better than any SSL: API 525. Great with any setting, has a huge range, and extreme settings in it mean -extreme-.
@ Andy: better use this one as a reference for your next model.

Ok I guess the plugin boarder thickness in Logic is due to the fact that the GUI for The Glue isn't as wide as other plugins so that makes Logic's parameters at the top of the plugin wider than the actual GUI which is why when you hide the parameters you're able to adjust the width of the boarder. So it looks like all is good, absolutely loving The Glue! I haven't been experiencing any other so far. Can't wait for my full version build Andy!
djanthonyw wrote:Andy I just loaded the 1.0.6 that you sent out to the paying customers. The GUI still loads with the thick boarder but now in 1.0.6 I'm able to adjust it.

just wondering when we'll get the build..
i would like the settings to be saved. now, each time i close the daw and open again, the settings return to default :S
any answer to that??
would also like to say that i find it most useful on drums, though it can have its place in the master too, but with more attention paid to it. gonna try on vocs/bass/etc too.

Whats the order of these mate?living sounds wrote:Here's a little test with three compressors:
- Sonnox Dynamics
- My SSL compressor with THAT2181 VCAs and vintage 5532/5534 op amps
- The Glue
One file, three different sources (room drums, electronica mix, drumloop), first take is unprocessed, the last three are the three compressors, not necessarily in the order presented above. I've added a copy of "The Glue" which doesn't do any processing after the other two files just to add the noise. Processing was done at 192khz, converters Lynx Aurora.

Not drums this time, but the same settings as in test number 2, only hardware and The Glue here.
