Damn, I was hoping it was something credible. That's just the kind of rumour which British tabloids start by saying that there's a rumour.

The Grateful Dead for alt rock? (Always been a mystery to me how a band playing such meh, conventional, country blues/rock became the band of the psychedelic movement in the US. I know, the involvement with Ken Kesey, The Merry Pranksters, the Acid Tests etc, but then the mystery is, why wasn't their music more overtly psychedelic like, say, early Pink Floyd, or Hawkwind?)

And I suspect I'll be spitting coffee when I find out who 'the best rock and roll band ever' are?

Well, I'm certain about 1 and 2 now, but only because of the additional clues, and the fact that I can do the same thing that you did, graphically speaking.
