I like the “midi manipulation” I believe is in the Composition tab. I understand that RC has more features but it is the midi Variations I see in the video that I am most interested in at least for the moment.

I do wonder what other plugin/stand-alone has as similar capability.

Me, too! Haven't ever found anything even really similar.
Oh, too bad.

The generative midi plugins have not really impressed me much so will not spend time or money on them.

Let me ask in reference to midi plugins are modules and nodes the same thing?

Speaking of which, I've really been liking the results I get from using Ioniarics and Cality on IOS. Sometime in conjunction with each other. I send the resulting MIDI to Bitwig on my Desktop.

They do look interesting, Greg, thanks:)
How exactly are you integrating IOS apps with your desktop MIDI tools and/or hardware, if you are?
Hi David, I also have an iConnectMIDI2+ and I make a midi loop in Bitwig (I can send the exact details if you would like). So I can send and receive through the USB channel on my iConnectMIDI2+. (and can also send audio to and from the iPad
through the same USB connection). And I can send MIDI through my hardware keyboard (K-Board Pro) this way.

I use AUM on my iPad to load Cality and or Autony and or Ioniarics and hook them together in there and send the composite result to Bitwig. Takes some tweaking. Somwhat hit or miss, but I've found some great hits :) There are no manuals with these apps, but several videos that can help. Let me know if you end up wanting to try these and I'll send more details. Took me a few days to really get a handle on what was going on. I'm glad I did though...

The main thing I find with midi generation apps (and I haven't used very many at all) is how they treat space and rests so always wanting that aspect to feel natural and I can dial in phrases and ongoing generative melodies with these apps that keeps my interest in that way. Sometimes it's even funny how sporadic it can sound!

P.S. [Today I'm going to try and send Scalar 2 chords to Ionariacs and then send those notes to Cality and see what happens. In the beginning, I accidentally created a feedback loop and had to quickly turn my speakers off cause of doubling volume from simultaneous notes. It was pretty spectacular and to me beautiful before it it crashed and I lost my settings. Give anything to have them back. The tricky thing is to tame everything so it can keep going without building up too much. Probably too much detail here :)!

Regarding melody generators, some years ago I had pretty good luck with J74 Progressive in Ableton Live. Seemed like it had enough controls for creating captivating melodies. I'll have to check into that again soon!

Thanks Greg! The detail level re IOS/Desktop is great, AFAIConcerned, and thanks for the offer of more as needed:)

Somewhere I've got an iConnect device, too, but just moved house and there's still lots of not-found-yet treasures!

I am interested in real-time user guided midi generated music plugins/stand-alones/iOS apps. And obviously for the PC, multi-touch capable so that the GUI can be used as the control surface.

If Artificial Intelligence is included in the package the better. The AI will attempt to understand what I want to accomplish musically and will then adjust the midi stream generators appropriately.

Perhaps record some generated midi stream that may sound promising then import it into Rapid Composer and try the Variations as shown on David's video. Hmmm, May try that when I get RC.

Not sure if this was mentioned but I predict good results from it once I have some time to spend with it:

yes, Stochas is pretty good and what would be even more amazing is if it had a layer for CC messages as well. So for those interested go over to Github and express some support for this feature request https://github.com/surge-synthesizer/stochas/issues/68

David, I believe you introduced me to this, but I was spending some time with MIDI Looper from HGSounds (which runs in Kontakt) and I'm really amazed at the thought and depth of this instrument. It is just so good. If you haven't checked it out yet, I recommend you do. Though I think the site is down for maintenance right now. https://hgsounds.com/

Hope it will be back up soon. Andy Medforth has created some of my very favorite instruments and really hoping he can get things back up and running!

I love HGSounds' stuff. I have participated in a couple of group buys, and bought some of his other stuff outside of the group buys. The website has been down for a while now. The security certificate for the website expired at the beginning of February and has not been renewed. There was a message from Andy last November talking about health issue I think but nothing since then. It would be wonderful to have him back.

Ditto big time to both of you! I actually made a short intro YT video on the Looper when it first arrived, and would gladly repost it here, except I hesitate in case these incredibly great old tools don't resurface along with their now-feeling-much-better creator anytime soon (I wish, I hope, I pray!), and my video just adds frustration to the sorrow.

Is it possible that HG Sounds just came back up? I have been trying it for days (and tried again earlier this morning) because I wanted to access my account to download the products, and all of a sudden it seems to be working again :).

Any news on Melodology Pro ArpSeq ?

This might be enough to make me add a Windows machine to my All-Mac studio:

(Is there some PC equivalent of a Mac Mini?)
