FWIW, I bought a Virus TI for $700 recently and that’s enough hardware for anyone to make great music. Virus B, Nord 2, and Micro Q are a lot less capable, though.

I'm kind of glad I never got one (had my eyes on it for some time), and that I can have it in the box now with the emulator. I'm sure that programming would have the same effect on me, with that interface.vurt wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2023 7:46 pmhave one here.

Imagine my look when I was alpha testing the emulator and only saw the 1 knob editor.

Weapon manufacturers are guilty of conspiracy of murder, or even murderers, by that logic.Ex Machina wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2023 7:02 pmYes, that would be the honorable thing to do. But you seem to have other plans that involve facilitating the theft of other people's intellectual property. If you can't afford the following hardware synths then tough shit. Most people using this Motorola "emulator" are probably using cracks anyway. What's a few more thefts?osiris wrote: Mon Jul 03, 2023 1:30 pm 'A Virus A or B module isn't that expensive. Likewise, if you want the sound of a Waldorf Micro Q, just buy a Micro Q rack. Again, they are not astronomically expensive. And if you like the sound of the Clavia Nord Lead 3, just buy a Nord Rack 3."
Virus B $850.00
Micro Q $450.00
Nord Rack $700.00
Must be nice to "just buy it if you want it."
Yes it is. Then again, I worked my ass off in college and at my first few jobs which made it possible for me to attend a top 10 business school so I could make the kind of money that allows me to afford these relatively inexpensive hardware synths.
Let me break it down for you in order to get through that thick skull of yours. We're not talking about a $20,000 Jupiter 8 or similarly unattainable CS-80. A Waldorf Micro Q rack isn't even in the same universe price wise.
Extra points for crapping on all my hard work.
Oh I get it now. If something is financially out of reach for me, I should just steal it. I'd love to own an iconic Aston Martin sports car. So I suppose I should make a few homemade molotov cocktails and firebomb the dealership in the middle of the night. I could then make off with a brand new DB12 during the ensuing chaos.
Despite your crybaby protestations, I'm not about to tearfully apologize for "crapping on all your hard work." Though I suppose thieves do work "very hard" planning their next heist.
I doubt that you do think that though. There are of course major differences between theft, copyright infringement and intellectual property.
Do you also think that all the commercial emulators (from Arturia, NI, Softube etc) are thieves?
They do not pay a dime to the original engineers!
Where do you draw the line?
Since I personally grew up in a rich country, with educated parents, I also went to school and could build my own career. I worked very hard as well. And so, I have actually owned all Nord Leads (1-4, 2X), Nord Wave and Virus C and TI. Still, I have no issue with other people using emulators of old abandoned hardware (or software).

I didn't write that. It was an obnoxious response to my reply. I guess the dude thinks all the prior endless Virus samples and emus are thefts also. My theory is it's an contrarian chatbot. I guess now if you make presets even with a demo, you're a thief.

Did the arp sync to daw issue with the virus get fixed?

Your thinking of Powercore. Made a new demo in honor of being called a thief. I've made ab lot of presets in my day for many different synths, free and not free, and always gave them away but have never been called a thief for doing so. So I guess no more presets for free because it seems to trigger some people..

For a lot of people those emulations are more of a curiosity than anything else. Many ITB producers simply don't want the hardware because it takes up more space, requires more effort and equipment (audio interface with multiple inputs, cables etc.) to record, is worse for organizing and managing presets etc. If Access, Clavia etc. wanted to break into this market they would release native plugin versions of their synths, but they choose not to, giving up the market to developers of both free and paid plugins. Even Waldorf are handing over the market to other developers since they don't update their plugins properly.
The main strength of the hardware was the hands-on interface. At the time using the hardware also freed CPU cycles, but since CPUs are orders of magnitudes more powerful now that's less of an issue. Hardware is arguably more stable and aesthetically pleasing for performing musicians as well. The emulations don't provide any of those benefits. The emulations are not in direct competition with the hardware IMO, not any more than e.g. Serum is.

Take a single oscillator, producing a drone. Send it to the wave shaper, altering the tone.
This can be a triangle, Sawtooth or a square. Modulate the pulse width, nobody will care

I think my presets will also work in Viper since they are now in .mid format.

No. AFAIK, it's not anywhere on the horizon.Stopani wrote: Mon Jul 31, 2023 11:37 pm I'm hitting the conversation late but did the Nord Emu actually appear?
