Strange - I sent my payment Saturday afternoon (Aust. time) and got a response from Andrew with the link to the noise free version later in the day (i.e. morning UK time).

It might be worth sending an e-mail to sales at <the company name> dot commmmm. With all the activity, yours might have been missed ...

Peace,
Andy.

But did you receive your personal build yet? I think the question is more about that ... I also received the noise-free version but it can't save the preset etc. I think we just have to wait a bit.

Yes, I meant the personal build, not the noisefree demo.

People, please, I beg you.

Use that mellon on top of your shoulders.

This whole thing smells like what Mau5 and his crew are best at, "We make all of our own plugins from scratch, and it is what gives us that amazing sound you so desperately want, and will do everything within your power to get, but will never have, because you think it will make you a superstar producer!

No offense to the Mau5. I used to be mad at him for what he did to the dance industry, but I'm starting to open my eyes now and realize that it's just change. Change in a good way maybe.

If we (EDM) producers can break that glass ceiling of money and expectation, maybe, just maybe we can start competing with those Hippity Hoppers, and start making some real dough.

I mean, he friends with Tommy Lee, the guy has been in the music industry since I first got some action! (Thanks Tommy, it was after your concert by the way, my first date!)

Last thought. Let Mau5 do what he does best, get his hands on the industry and say, "mmmmm, there's got to be a cooler way of doing this".

Screw compressors, I love em, I hate em, but at the end of the day...............if you aint got IT! You ain't got IT!

Get a real job looser! A Damn Compressor is not going to make you an ace producer like Deadmau5. Practice, Practice, Read, Read, Read some more, ask around, hit the forums, and pray!
Yep.

Everyone knows you need a Moog Voyager for the Mau5 sound.

My first impressions are very positive.

It reminds me a lot of Waves SSL buss comp - which, incidentally, doesn't work for me in Vista, which does add weight to my decision to purchase.

The Range and Mix controls are very useful - wouldn't mind the GUI updating a bit faster. I notice when I'm reading 3db's gain reduction, the Range control seems to indicate I'm getting closer to 7. If you could toggle a high-speed refresh that might be useful for some.

Real n00b question: how do I route things to the sidechain?

(I'm on Ableton and Renoise)

i"m just janking ya'lls chains by the way. Keep up the good work Joel. Sorry for the haters!

Geeeeezz! I was just kidding. I was really poking fun at all those kids that saturate threads with the "how do you make this Deadmau5 bass, or how do you make this Electro sound". That combined with the hilarious secrecy behind the origin of this comp on the video. FM made it look like it was going to be a "super compressor".

I mean, I was watching an FM vid a long time ago and there was some producer throwin a track together and came across a technique that he didn't want to give away, so to speak. IT WAS SIDECHAINING, for gods sake.

So, don't take this to serious. I think some people will get the joke other's won't. Oh well, that's KVR. But still, it was not meant to be that serious.

I do think that Deadmau5 is a good producer still though. I don't like all of his songs. But, some are bangin!

I did take a look at the comp and it looks pretty good. 100 bones is fair but I'm a little strapped right now. I'll check it out and see if there is a demo. Excuse me if there is.

Sorry for the OT, but what exactly is your SSL compressor, living sounds? And how do I get one? :hihi:

Andy said he's going to send them in priority, I was the first buyer and haven't received mine yet. I'm sure it won't be that much longer though.

.. be ready to modify it quite a bit, like adding a stereo sidechain (called the oxford mod), or else it's pretty daft sounding.

If you are really interested, I suggest asking Kingston how he built his. It is a "high-end" version, components costing around 500 euros but is sound a lot better than the basic version living sounds just pointed to (I know because I've done direct A/B comparison between them).

I can post some audio clips of the differences once Kingston has finished the box.

Cheers!
