Vibe-wise a love it. Sometimes I find the control lacking compared to other delays (like I want to pan individual taps for example), or I find myself wanting ducking on a mode where it doesn't exist, or a little more control over rhythm, or detailed filtering options in the feedback....there's other delays for that stuff. ValhallaDelay is still my go-to for 80% of my delay needs, and the other 1 in 5 times, I reach for something else.pekbro wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:10 am I love Sean's work and have all of them, but at the end of the day, this is not my favorite delay for some reason.
When I feel like I'm being too precious, I just remember at how much great music was made with way more limited tools and try to remind myself I'm not talented enough for any of those tiny details to matter and should focus on the composition and performance and not get bogged down by details.

I did, but I still can't make out what he's saying!foosnark wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 12:47 am Have you tried listening to it backwards?
Really looking forward to this mode!
A well-behaved signature.

Favourite plugin for a good while.
A cassette mode will be most welcomed.
Would love for ubermod to get either an overhaul, or for there to be another valhalla multi fx geared towards more vintage/old digital flavours and nice saturation on board!

Sean posted somewhere recently about playing with a Univox tape echo he picked up. Instagram, maybe, or another forum.
The Univox units used an 8-track style tape cartridge - hard to find now but you can do a little surgery and reformat Playtape cartridges.
I don't find myself using this for straight delay duties much (I love Outer Space for that and Wavesfactory's new Copicat plugin - I'm familiar with tape units IRL so they're comfortable?) instead get wild with the BBD mode or ducking.

Nice, look forward to that. I use this for everything really, regular delay fx and going wild with it on sound design. So much potential to it.miloszz wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 11:14 pm Sean posted somewhere recently about playing with a Univox tape echo he picked up. Instagram, maybe, or another forum.

Still love Delay. I use it all of the time. Coming from guitar pedals, it "clicks" with me the most and all of the options sound great. I've also really enjoyed Supermassive on vocals recently. BUT I have fallen out of love with their traditional reverbs. Not entirely sure why, but I suppose I've heard them and used them for so long now that anything else sounds more interesting

Yup... Valhalla Delay always sounds good to me and with little effort. I can use the Bitwig tools and modulation to tweak Delay as well. Maybe 3 of 4 times I use Delay... the other time I use the Bitwig Delay cause I can put any arbitrary chain of devices in the feedback path.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:38 amVibe-wise a love it. I agree with your point about getting bogged down... but especially if I was talented enough, it would be an even greater loss to spend so much time tweaking tiny stuff cause all that talent would be wasted in those moments

Think of it like Diva. Emulations of classics with some fun additions. Not meant to do surgically precise delay trickery. There are plenty of delays for that, but none of them have the vibe that Valhalla Delay has. I love it, but of course I’ve got another dozen or so delay plugins for different shenanigans.Funkybot's Evil Twin wrote: Wed Nov 18, 2020 1:38 amVibe-wise a love it. Find an interesting MIDI controller like a Touché and start assigning parameters. It gets very interesting very quickly.simmo75 wrote: Thu Nov 19, 2020 10:10 pm I think it's a good sounding delay but for me. it's boring to use and I never find myself using it.

Well shiiiit... I have Touché and never thought to assign delay parameters to it. Thanks!zerocrossing wrote: Fri Nov 20, 2020 5:35 amFind an interesting MIDI controller like a Touché and start assigning parameters.
