Got the Flame micro uQMCV today and wouldn't you know it, it also doesn't work with Reaper so looks like it's an issue with Reaper or how it works on my PC, either way I now have two lots of perfectly functional MIDI to CV modules so I could actually do 8 part poly if I had enough other modules. The Flame unit doesn't have some output ports that the Mutant Brain does that lets you output another 12 CC values as CV, but makes up for that by being a little narrower. Both good value and I may end up turning a skiff case I have just into some kind of sequencer/drum case and I've stick the Mutant Brain in there for now. I do hope it gets working at some point again in Reaper as it's my favourite for shifting audio around between external and internal devices because the routing is so much easier than on other DAWs.

I mostly use Bitwig but I have some experience with MIDI devices in Reaper. I assume you are using some kind of MIDI interface with a 5-pin output, connected to a DIN>TRS adapter of some kind. So the first step I'd take would be check if something else can receive data from the same MIDI cable/output, but without the adapter. If that works, could be an issue with the adapter. If it doesn't work, try a different cable and then start checking that your MIDI Outputs are enabled in the 'MIDI Devices' page in Reaper's Preferences menu.

It’s a bit of a fringe thing though. I’m thinking it’s related to how Reaper interacts with these MIDI eurorack modules via my MIDI interface, a iConnectivity MioXL. Because Reaper gets updated almost daily and things were fine recently I may try rolling back to an earlier version and see if that fixes it.
I’ve tested with other cables and there’s no issue with any other DAWs so it must be a Reaper thing. The Flame needs a TRS->DIN, but the Mutant Brain is direct DIN->DIN.

Spectacular way to fail! Nice one with Oto Boum. I still want one of these but I’m also looking at Analog Heat.CANE CREEK wrote: Wed May 25, 2022 10:17 am My New Years resolution was don’t buy any hardware in 2022 but that soon faltered

Yeah i was deciding between heat and boum, however Boum has a Compressor which just sealed the deal for me, the fact it was cheaper is a bonus.
