Although space is a premium, I notice that you manage to fill it with a premuium "G&L" tele (ASAT)- OUTSTANDING!
Well, I'm glad one of us thinks theres anything interesting about this.

Personally, I kept looking for something inspiring in this photo, but it always seemed to disappear into a small corner of some sort. This, was, in fact, the most I could get from the photo. Did I miss anything?

Pertaining to the background (i.e. curtains, etc...), there was absolutely nothing that would have me look at it by itself. Ergo, why would I wanna look at a metalic can on top?

If other people like this stuf and/or would like to see more, I wish them (and you) well. If there was a decent table; a very uncommon chair; something on the table that makes me want to look to it (without the can); some better flooring; a floor with great style; and/or something else in this offering, I might be able to digest it again. However, I believe that I saw it all within the first glimpse or so.

If you're not going to go for technique, go for style! However, I cannot (and will not) work through idle placings on any table just to see something displayed for the sake of someone's unbalanced ego.

FYI: everytime you ask someone to download; look; appraise; comment; these activities require some bandwidth. More precisely, you're asking other people to give up their resources (i.e. time/money) for YOUR sake.

PS. It needs far more iambic pentameter.

am i missing something?

I don't.. :D
The top one is an MK149 that i don't use any more

The next two down are my nest-eggs..
A Casio CT1000P and a Casio HT6000

I'm working on the theory that everybody will get fed up with big beefy analogs at some point and they'll all really want some weedy 80s Casio sounds, "This time next year we'll be miwwionaires"

Actually I've always had an emotional attachment to Casio gear.. what I really want is a CT201.

Oh I've also got an GZ50m but you can't see it in the pic..

Off course nobody alive has been in the studio while I was out. The children or cleaning lady would never even think about being in there without supervision. This must have happened as a result of the high humidity or something.

Yeah, and nobody here can understand WTF I'm about. It still sound OK doesn't it?

:x :x :x :-o
Sound on Sound visited a home studio where this had happened. While they did recommend a replacement tweeter, they actually just grabbed a vacuum cleaner to pop it back out

Searching all around, this seems to be the best summary of repair methods:

http://www.talkbass.com/forum/archive/i ... 18517.html

1. Sticky tape
2. Vacuum cleaner
3. Paper clip & small hole

I am too hoorified to try #3, but the 1 & 2 didn't work. I'll get better sticky tapy tomorrow with stronger glue and see if it works. Generally it seems like the pro opinion is that it should not do anything to the sound.

I think they said in SOS it will distort the clarity and direction of the high-end by a very small amount. I wouldn't be overly concerned about it.

Maybe I'm a bit over-sensative. I believe that the sos opinion is true, but one will never really know without extensive A/B. The problem with monitors are that a small flaw may cause one to miss something in the mix, which would not sound good if one had undamaged equipment.

Maybe warming it just a little bit with a hairdryer before using the vacuum cleaner. Don't heat it up, just warm it a little bit above body temperature (think babyfood ;))

I will try that thanks.

another alternative (but akin to the sticky tape one) is cut the head off a cotton bud, put supergule on it, press it on lightly and hold it for a few secs then pull it gently. To get the bud back off, twist it very slowly, don't pull it. I done that with one of my old speakers (my nephew thought it was fun to press them both, but luckily i caught him before he got to the second  ) It left a kinda unsightly mark, but that was much easier to live with than a borked speaker. and if you still have the covers....

Edit : or try the hairdryer to soften the glue back up once you've popped it out? Never tried that myself, just got the idea from the post above yours. :P

Another good idea thanks. Thanks to everybody for the advice. I'll try to do the repairs on the weekend when I have more time and patience.

I've heard of people fixing that problem with chewing gum. Soften it up till it gets sticky, put it on the cone and then attach a pencil to the other end and gently pull it out. I've never done it though so I don't know that it'll work.

Huh, this is kind of like home remedies for speakers.
