Spectra doesn't have ones that "can be assigned to everything" but all of the envelopes can be one shot or looped, and each LFO has a loopable envelope associated with it.

Essentially you end up with loopable envelopes on Pitch, Filter Cutoff, Amplitude, LFO1 and LFO2. And the LFO's can be assigned to Filter, Vibrato (pitch), or Tremelo (amplitude). Not quite as flexible as some of the monster matrix stuff out there, but very servicable, easy to use and easy on the CPU.

Plus the timeline on the harmonies is loopable, so each preset can cycle through all, or just a portion, of the up to 100 allowable harmonies. (Harmonies being individual sets of volume & phase for up to 250 harmonics.)

That way you get envelope functionality without taking up extra cpu and gui space.
This is something that Minimonsta does if you're looking for a synth with that function and very flexible it is as well, Spectra isnt quite as flexible in the lfo routing, but all major bases are covered and it does'nt detract from the instrument, something thats never been a drawback on the majority of good sounding plugs.

Perhaps hosting (or at least "encaplsulating") it in something like Bidule could be an option - there you can arbitrarily modulate anything that reacts to either vst automation or midi events. The downside is that presumably there won't exist many "meta-presets" for such a combo but for own experiments that could be ideal.

Not to further this diatribe about what the instrument should have, could have and will have before its released yet  why dont you all wait to hear what it sounds like when it IS released? :D

Just like that other MelOhman synth: SymptOhm

Every synth should have it IMO.

That's exactly how Surge works. Best UI of 2005.

Aaah, finally someone with a level head. :) So much complaining about a synth that isn't even available for them to try yet.

David: I've got something to talk to you about....I'll be pming you shortly. ;)

Rather than slag an instrument before it's been heard and/or released, I'm headed in the opposite direction. With the incredible care, quality and functionality that Kjaerhus has brought to its effects, it is impossible for me to believe that Spectra won't be stellar -inventive, unique and the stuff of great feats of creativity. I'd buy it sight unseen and intend to put my money where my mouth is the day it's offered.

I guess this synth will be capable of producing the most beautiful sine tone ever heard since the invention of the eardrum

Didn't complain, just wanted to make a (synth independent) suggestion how to extend the modulation options (I guess even in that synth there will be at least one knob that can't be modulated with arbitrary envelopes out of the box - that way it can :) ). Whether that helps to make "better" sounds is another question (Atm. I have much more fun with exploring every imaginable option than with actually using them - perhaps not the ideal way to get some actual results  ... damn addiction to perfectism... should set some remedies on my list of new year's pledges... ;) )

I use most of Kjaerhus audio's plugins, and I'm certainly interested in taking advantage of the promotional deal offered on Spectra, but is there a download link to a demo available? Or will there be one before the promtional period runs out?

As much as I trust Kjaerhus's programming, I won't buy something...err... deafly :)

Since the "demo code" was in place already in the versions we used for patch programming, I would be very surprised if there wasn't one... But if Torben says the release is January 3rd, until January 3rd we have to wait... Happy new year, BTW! :hihi:

Kjaerhus's free effects are amazingly good -- and beautifully functional in appearance, too. They're pretty much the only ones I use, actually. I can only guess how good the 'pay' versions are...perhaps better than my ears

The synth will be a highlight of 2006, I'm sure. Whether I'm in the market for another real expensive synth is another question, but, we'll see....
