hey, chase had a "what's my name?" thread when he first got here
i've told you your name might be perceived as racist
isn't lawnmower's name an homage to yours? i've always thought that came about in another "what's my name?" thread
about growth...i've made many posts about recording that no longer reflect my views. i took a side in a mastering thread the other day, and today proved myself wrong.

Never heard about that one. Despite being KVR's Top Waster of Space and post counts, I'm not nearly as ubiquitous as I seem to be..androidlove wrote:isn't lawnmower's name an homage to yours?
One thing I DO know is I've missed out on ALOT of new talent, both in the Cafe and in new Developers.
I'm having a blast getting caught up with that aspect.
Which reminds me..there's someone's track I need to give a listen to..

only teasin', someone had to do it...
actually i think don knows I really dig his music.
i haven't read the whole thread, but I agree with Lawnmower (i think) who said that it is such a persnal choice, if he has a name that has meaning to him as an artist, he has to stick to it. i don't think it's horribly bad at all. there's way worse artist names, of some great artists.
anyway also i think KVR as a whole is biased to answer the question if it's a good name for 'marketwise' and the external world. we ALL known Don in other ways from just the music side only, so i think you have to look at the impression of the name from a 'blank slate' of someone who doesn't know Don from KVR.
and from that point of view, it's just fine imo.
a helluva lot better than 'marilyn manson' anyway.

apparently, but I think it's more like racial, not racist.smp wrote:Am I the only one that had never heard of sickle cell aenemia and its apparent racist overtones before this thread?
sickle, when you first came on board I actually thought you were a black kid..didn't take long to discover I was wrong, but that was my first impression of that name.

i think marilyn manson is a pretty good one, actually.Muff Wiggler wrote:

ever since i was fairly little i've gotten used to signing drawings with my real name, so i might just go with that and save me the trouble of digging through my pretentions of coolness.
or anyone here think 'fabian kondziella' to be such an unbelievably bad choice? all vanity aside, it's really just for curiosity's sake that i'm asking. it's my name and always has been and i have NO idea how others perceive it.
since sickle has come to a decision, i hope it's not rude to ask this.

Well, online nick's are/were born from a common, irrational paranoia that if someone knew your name they somehow had a route to finding you, and in the first years, ALOT of people had those fears..That's actually folklore belief(name emppowerment over others) going back several centuries.
I mean, would you want THIS guy showing up at your door when you're trying to get your kids ready for Sunday School?

I don't really have a problem with my first name(Donovan), but I've always hated my last..which is the main reason I don't use it unless I really have to.
Of course, to cater to Urban Fear, you're that Fat Man, you already knew all this, and you artfully manipulated me into almost revealing my entire name so you could track me down and do something disgusting like rub the head of your pecker in my collection of coffee cups one day while we're not at home..
You nasty person.
Get outta here.
