I feel the same for the higher frequency range.
I'm not happy to say that it beats Voxengo Elephant just a little bit.

That was my feedback as well. I wished I could have seen the clipped waveforms.

I went ahead and bought it anyway. When I went back to take a look, I noticed that it was easy to over do it and to get "square waves". But then I backed off a bit, and was very pleased with the results (and it was a lot louder). Hope that helps, Bob.
Hi gb

Thanx. :)

Well, sometimes a song might contain some extremely louder parts and if it clipps to square easy, then the overall level
gets rather affected. But It is possible to handle an extreme part separately also. :)

Yeah, the way to master after the loudness war is probably to back off and give the mix a loud & dynamic touch, without clippings, instead soft peaking at perhaps -0.0dB. :phones: :tu:

I think it was rather transparent at the highs. :) Kind of warm and no added hi-freqs. It also handles overall dynamics/bandwidth good, IMHO.

Yes, transparent at the highs is the right word. :dog:

Sad that there were no presets and that it is not possible to render with the demo. :(

It would have been nice to be able to look at how eg clippings are handled in a rendered file, before buying. :phones:

Hi Bob! We did not do anything to prevent rendering in the demo version but it seems like some Hosts request data that are not available in the demo.

The MPL-1 wont clip but it will go right to the edge of the output level you have set. The precision of the look-ahead / attack makes it unnecessary to clip anything as there can simply be no overs.

PeterL, in Elephant do not forget to use EL-3 mode, St.Link 50% *and* release a bit higher than what you use in MPL-1 (due to time scale differences). Then push harder both limiters at such settings and compare. ;)

Ah, forgot to add - use LimSpeed 'Slow' if you have look-ahead in MPL set to 2.5 ms. LimSpeed='Med' is roughly the same as MPL's 1.2 ms. Other values are in similar relation.

Don't forget to check out how Elephant and MPL pump at similar release settings. Smile

Comparison is really complex here, and I think that without developer guidance it's easy to make a bit biased conclusions.

Wow guys!
Stop it!

Aleksey I think Torben has a point here but that's not important now.
You will both regret this fight if you don't stop now.

I don't believe you can infuence us anyway, most of us will ultimately trust our ears not what we read here.

AndrewSimon, I'm trying to influence only partially - so that at least comparisons are made with similar settings.

To the loudness freaks I have made a couple of presets that should prove that the MPL-1 can be a wolf as well as a sheep.

Hot (for those with a little respect left for there material)

Clipper (The step before ruining your music by sending it through a real clipper for that last 0.01dB).

Enjoy!
