Wow, I missed alot of conversation. My body just shut down and I finally got a good night sleep last night.
I'm glad we sorted the issue out. I really wasn't sure. But I am sure of one thing. There are a TON of legal torrent sites on the net. And if run correctly, you can avoid problems. That's what I'm trying to do. I don't want this place to fall because we weren't cautious enough.
We've had people ask if they could post their cracked software, and they have been denied very quickly. I think they were more trying to push the buttons but you can never be sure. As for torrent sites with TV shows, or subscription services, those are NOT legal sites. Those sites have been falling big time.
Make no mistake. Myself and my team are on the lookout for the better interest of the site. I get reports from xsub all the time of things that he sees or messages he gets. We all have IM contact and use it. I personally take this site VERY seriously, as it ultimately comes back to me. And I know the rest of the team do also.
I'm so happy with our results. We've hit 500 users overnight, which is fantastic. And we would like more stuff to go up, especially music you would like to share. But if you have any questions about legality, please post them here, as we will make sure of things before you upload.
I saw another site yesterday that launched and was posting free plugs that they had found to be available for download. In a few hours there was no way they could have gotten all those devs on board.
We're not like that. I posted Mats Helgesson's stuff(with more to come) and I got Mats specific permission to share it ALL on our site. He even said he may come by and share some stuff that never got released.
This is how we work. This site is a legal site for the community. We appreciate the support and the diligence of those who have contributed. Thank you!
Sorry to make this so long. Cheers!
Brent

Brilliant summary mate, and yes, I believe it is a far better situation where there is full cooperation with the authors permission than not, mainly because 1. You won't have any worries if the samples/programs/music you're using (or listening to) is illegal or without the owners permission. and 2. Because if the author knows about it, he/she can then check out the site - see how popular their material is online - check out comments, and of course - interact with the fans of from their submitted material(s)
I'd just like to say, thanks everyone for making this happen, especially koolkeys with the amount of dedication he has with this.
Cheers.

I also want to state that if anyone has issues with anything on the site, please PM me and let me know. Some people may try to take a shot at us but I think it's easy to see that we want to do this the right way.
So if you have any concerns, please take the high road and contact me. Thank you.

I didn't get to work on the front page myself yesterday, as I had to spend time with family. But it will be redone soon to be more of a standard, non-launch message with a bit more organization. But I'll look at whatever you have also and maybe go with it.

Ok, as if it needs to be said, I must remind everyone that absolutely NO warez, cracks, serial numbers, or anything related can be uploaded to the site. I only say this to stay cautious. Nobody has tried yet, but a couple of people have asked for permission to upload that stuff.
Every time somebody asks they get a resounding NO. The staff is aware of this also and will be watching. I know those here at KVR will understand. But you will always have some who don't get it.

Just to break the cycle of "what you can't do", I'd like to focus on some things YOU CAN DO @ Sampletorrents.
If there's a wav kit up on Sampletorrents, and you use it with SFZ or create an AKP [Akai] format patch, then please consider donating it back to the site. Don't repost the wav files though, just the presets in a compressed format. We'll be happy to have them, as will other users

koolkeys, you can cut-out the visual icons I made for the site, (in the mock-up) as I feel they are very appealing, they are the tutorial icons.
Also, I can make the other sections you've added as some appealing eye-candy.

Yeah, I decided tonight(morning) that in my most tired moment of the week, I'll try to throw together some HTML for the front page. Bad idea.
Sorry I didn't get the links up yet. I will get the tutorials you made up soon. It's just been a VERY long weekend at work. More headaches in one weekend then I've had all year. I was producing a live broadcast from the Grand Ole Opery for our radio station, and NOBODY knew what was going on. It wore me out. So my brain has been fried.
Also, as you can see at the site, I have a basic idea of a front page. Please feel free to improve upon it(shouldn't be hard). I'm going to sleep, and I will check back tomorrow to see if you have some ideas. It's just there to give you an idea.
Peace, and zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I think the hardware synth would have to consent before you sample it ( as you say).
Non-consensual sampling spawns unwanted wavs, or something.
i dont know, but would like to.
peace.

No not really, if the synth is based on samples - it would be 'Advisable' to clear it with the Manufacture.Hovmod wrote:I have another question about legal matters.
Is it really perfectly legal to sample a hardware synth and post a sample set?
If the synth is Analogue (not VA you need to check again as I am not sure there
