Renaming it to Cubase 4 instead of SX seems like the best idea ever to me. Right now there's SX, SL, SE and LE where SE never saw the version 2 upgrade and LE is still version 1.
Something like Cubase 4, Cubase 4 Musician and Cubase 4 Lite would make a whole lot more sense.

Eh what? Martin Amis is infinitely tall? Oh cool you say, righto ...Lunch Money wrote:Martin Amis =
Well that's as may be but, you don't have to have Aspbergers to notice that if you take out "a mi" and put in "o nu", the name loses some of it's cachet and he gets busted down from literary lion (or scion according to your POV) to Yamaha rep.

Not that anyone from steinberg actually cares what i or anyone else on this forum thinks but:
1. Waiting for Cubase to check all the plug-ins at start up sucks.
2. I want to be able to move around my plug-in order in the insert channel.
3. I don't need any more repackaged VST instruments or effects. Please spend your time ironing out the inevitable bugs firsT!

The central problem for people who already use Cubase SX is that Charlie already has our money. He and the gang are - out of commercial necessity - more concerned with fresh meat. They want the feature set to be as attractive to new customers as that offered by the competition and little things that drive us crazy are probably well down on the list of priorities.hoffy wrote:Not that anyone from steinberg actually cares what i or anyone else on this forum thinks but:

Steinberg need to at least have a stab at matching the feature set of Logic, Sonar, Samp, DP etc and Logic comes with an extensive set of virtual instruments and a full featured sampler. Steinberg has clearly been reluctant thusfar to do as Apple did and just give away the whole farm - make all the VIs and paid for FX free - but I think it is clear they will give new instruments and partially crippled versions of the sampler and maybe a convolution verb of some description since Logic, Samp etc all have one. Wizoo verb is mighty cheap just now - I wonder if Steiny have licenced it.
I would be surprised if re-ordering plugs and more flexible routing were not features of the rewritten audio engine - I mean geez - who would rewrite the whole engine and recreate the same set of limitations? They'd have to be crazy so I am guessing that any group or FX channel will be able to be routed anywhere. FX will be reorderable and there will be hot and cold running sidechaining.
