I'm guessing Gospel Musicians' SY-99 for Falcon won't suffice, huh?

If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

Of course not! Its a sample pack… Its like looking out of the window vs. walking in nature… F‘em fits better for that purpose…

They own the company which should have the resources to do it (Steinberg). There is no point in doing CS-80 or a DX7. Those are covered well… But if you look at the technological advancement in general, you get better physical models or FM variants than the missing ones (F‘em, Plasmonic, Chromaphone)
They do have their FM Essentials plugin for iOS, which only delivers a limited, probably sampled, number of presets. And some other plugins as well…
I agree 100% - Strange way of doing business!

If Cubase had:
1. Exclusive Yamaha synth emulations.
2. Emulations of the various effects Yamaha has made (I'm thinking Yamaha Magicstomp etc.),
3. The various Yamaha drum machines…
4. Hell even a VST version of the Yamaha SU700 sampler (which I love) -

More people from synth lovers to guitarists would naturally want to use Cubase.

Even worse, Yamaha also owns Line 6.

What about putting all that guitar modeling tech found in the Variax guitars and the Variax bass to all Cubase users? I know Line 6 has made plenty of plugins, even the Helix Native plugin…But I don't see any of this ever happening…

Apparently too busy making Motorcycles :hihi:

Well Yamaha could make an XG soft synth for Apple/iOS only

Even though Steinberg is a part of Yamaha, I doubt they have full access to the code behind all Yamaha software. Yes there is a lot more money in apps like a sequencer for iOS than an XG soft synth.

Nice video yes just do not know why they do not make a Montage/Motif/MX or Tyros soft synth

I'm still looking for someone that has put together a Yamaha soft synth based on anything at all.

By the way, on top of page 4 of this thread, there was a link to S-YXG50_Wavetable_rip.zip but it is dead, does anyone have that file to re-post it here or PM to me ?

If they made a vsti EX5r, I'd be tempted to ditch the aging hardware unit I've got.

I keep it because it's got VL and AN, but mostly for the FDSP.
IMO - it's the best (non-analog) synth Yamaha has made.

The Cherry Audio GX80 is proppa soft imho. But agreed the various sampled offerings don't come near my SY77 or EX5 hardware, I'd buy a Yamaha version of both these no hesitation, they are missing a lucrative channel.

Agree for a virtual recreation of the tg-sy range fs1r, but drop the sy85 , nothing special about that one .
PLogue did a fabulous emulation of the dx7 , so if anyone can do an sy-tg I 'll bet it's plogue

The S-YXG50 VST works fine with Windows 8.1. Unbelievably low CPU use, I can't get it to go above 1% on my i7 4790K while playing any XG MIDI song, no matter how many channels.
And as far as I can tell, from comparing about 30-40 songs that I recorded on my DB50XG many years ago, before I sold it, the S-YXG50 VST is EXACTLY the same on MIDI playback (except, of course, it doesn't offer QS300 mode, and XG-Gold doesn't work on Windows 8.1. It probably didn't work on Windows 7, I can't remember now, it was so long ago.)

:tu:

The EX5 was my favourite Yamaha hardware synth...

I had a few of the keyboards and a couple of the racks...

The sound of the EX5 is so beautiful....it's a very special synth...

But that was many moons ago,so time has moved on and things have changed....

Software synths like SynthMaster 2 or Zebra 2 will get you into the EX5 zone 🌞
No auto tune...

Thanks for the tip about the S-YXG2006LE, works perfect with XGedit95 and the mGUI sfz-mgui in VstHost and my own little asHost ... :D
After patching the SGP2.dll, and copied SGP2.DLL,sxgbnw6l.tbl and sxgdat6l.tbl to the VST folder, I could remove the MIDplayer completely from my system ... :)

At last I have a SYSEX testbed for mGUI which already supports SYSEX controls ...

Thanks SoftSynth for maintaining the Yamaha SoftSynths list :)

Stuka, VstHost and S-YXG2006LE are free, so just try it on your win98 machine, another good GM2 plugin with good piano is Edirol's Hyper Canvas, which I managed to buy new for € 45 a few months ago on eBay. What I like about Hyper Canvas is the "Character" control which kind of morhps between 2 soundsets ...
Hey, i'm having a lot of trouble here. I'm trying to get the S-YXG2006LE to work with XGedit95 with no luck. My goal is to use XGedit95 to change patches and edit them because it seems XGedit95 is the only place I can get patch names, please correct me if I'm wrong. If there is a easier way to get the patch names into VSTHost I would like to be able to do that or if there is a similar low profile host I could do it with. I'm also using the MGUI / SGP2 wrapper/gui in VSTHost for the S-YXG2006LE. I've tried picking ever single synth in XGedit95 and none of them have worked. I seems XGedit95 is not recognizing the S-YXG2006LE. The VSTHost has a midi output called Session 1. I tried using that as the input in XGedit95 to no avail. Please help, i'd like to get this to work so I can play my old sequences I used to do on my PSR keyboard. Thanks in advance.
Although 11 years later... I got the syxg50.dll to work in Windows 10 downloaded from a video I was watching on YouTube using XGedit95. I used to own both the DB50XG and the SW1000XG Sound Cards but sold them and sampled the SW1000XG before I sold it (33.3GB) :-0 The only thing I can't get it to do yet is play the MU100 sounds (highlighted in Purple in XGedit95). Basically I installed loopMIDI | Tobias Erichsen (from tobias-erichsen.de as midiyoke does not work windows 10) I installed just one port for now loopMIDI Port. Restart Windows and make sure you open loopMIDI if you did not set it to open when Windows starts. I installed the syxg50.dll (32 bit) and used jBridger to bridge it for my 64bit DAW Cubase. Make sure you have loopMIDI in your DAW Midi Port Setup and it's ticked. Close Cubase or your DAW. loopMIDI should still be running (1st) and (2nd) Open XG-Edit Select Synth to DB50XG Set Midi Out A to LOOPMIDI PORT and think you maybe able to select Midi In to LOOPMIDI PORT also (if required) and finally if you keep getting the Piano sound like I did I found if you CLICK the General MIDI button under the G of DB50X(G) near middle top right then now it should change when you change sounds, even the Reverb, Chorus (FX) and Resonance and Cutoff seem to work from within XGedit95 (not tried from Cubase as yet). Open your DAW (Cubase me) and Open the S-YXG50.dll (DB50) vsti you Jbridged and should change sound when you change in XG-Edit if it doesn't then make sure General Midi is yellow otherwise you will just hear the Piano sound. Hope this helps.
If anyone knows any of these softsynths that have the MU100 sounds like the SW1000XG did then would love to hear about it as none of the highlighted MU100 sounds work when using the softsynth although they worked for the SW1000XG soundcard. I'm sharing the Yamaha CS6x and SW1000XG samples on Tor-rents which I uploaded but they're far too big is size compared to these softsynths. I also like the I can render in place in Cubase from the syxg50.dll which I don't think I could do with the DB50XG (soundcard). Yamaha should update these now computers are much faster

Still hoping for some releases....
