So you have an oppinion based on the illusive premises that you in your (short?) lifetime has

1) listened to ALL MP3 music on ANY upload site
2) rated them statistically for originalness and
3) that people actually care about your results

So, your posts are basically a waste of space and as uninteresting and unoriginal as can be

Anyone can proclaim genius and originality, and there's no yardstick to assess whether anything they do is any good. Unfortunately, the soundscape/noise/ambient arena is full of people who would be considered bad in any established conventions of music, and the only time they don't suck is when they work in a style where quality is difficult to assess.
Really excellent post. Very good insights, and a lot of truth that doesn't get discussed largely because it's not exactly politically correct.

I've listened to the "music" of some who are so disdainful of pop, commercial success and the music business, and my curiosity was rewarded with a variety of noise that is rigorously defended as being music. It was original, but not very interesting or even pleasant. The genre of ambient has been trashed by this stuff. It didn't occur to me that this was their escape from the constraints of music convention, which requires skill and talent, but that does make sense.
So in the end, to me, whether someone is highly original or not is not the main issue; I only care if they are any good according to my personal standard for excellence. :hihi:
In other words, being a follower and/or leader isn't really an issue in terms of perceived music quality and enjoyment. I do think those who are bored with much of what they hear would be more likely to be constantly seeking music that is outside not only the mainstream but even the more recent genres, which themselves are only a decade or so old. For them, true originality is all that sparks their interest, for whatever reason. Maybe it's about not being part of the crowd, sheep, lemmings or... :)

it's interesting that you say this on KVR, which has quite a few producers of this sort of music you refer to as noise and which you say has trashed the ambient genre. there are a lot of Reaktor users and those who like to experiment contributing to this website.

for as many of those who have posted up popular sounding music there are those who post up experimental ambient in The Music Cafe, some of which i have really enjoyed listening to. i'd prefer to hear out of the norm stuff.
