I'm using Pro Tools 8.. does it count?

And at KvR there are not that many Pro Tools users since it has a proprietary plugin standard (RTAS) that sees only development in form of plugins by a really small and selected number of developers.
Simply said, there are almost only commercial plugins from the big guys for the Pro Tools plattform. So if there are 20 gazillion free VST plugins, there are like only 2 free RTAS plugins in comparison...

Pro Tools -- mainly because it's been ingrained in my noggin' as far as workflow. When you been on a specific host platform for a long while, it's not a question of "favorite." It's more, which one do you know well enough to do sonically what you set out to do when recording, mixing and completing a song/track.

And, PT 8 is a HUGE (by Digi standards) step up, especially in the area of MIDI. Probably owing to the fact that it has a couple of Logic developer defectors who worked extensively on 8. Note the color palette if you don't believe me.

Trust me, I've tried to ditch it a thousand times, but it's too ingrained in my pea brain. And regardless of how bad you may hate its ubiquitousness, or hate Digi/Avid, you still have to admit it has the best audio editing tools/workflow in the DAW world. My .002.

I'm sorry I cannot admit that, nor could I say that about any host. Personally when it comes to audio editing I find what matters most is YOUR needs. I really like Samplitide and I think Audition is great for audio editing, if I needed more advanced features I suspect that Sequoia would give PT a good run for it's money on audio editing tools/workflow...but that's just my 2 tenths of a cent worth

It's great. It wouldn't be my personal choice for multitrack audio recording and editing though.

FL STUDIO IS an AMAZING product. Gotta agree with you there. If it were available for Mac I'd finally invest in it. Of course I could just run it on Bootcamp, but I like having everything nice and tidy...logic/Live/Reason.

I still use Sound Forge through Bootcamp though.

I prolly meant "one of the best editing... in the DAW world." Either way, you're right about a specific user's needs. And for my needs, PT was/is it and right from the get go, pretty intuitive.

1) That workflow that is ingrained into your head did not happen by accident or as a patch work of new features. You (and others) would be amazed at the time and resources that Avid/Digi spend in working with artists, producers, commercial recording studios and post production facilities to get this result. Some may not like it or feel that their particular circumstances are better served by "following their own road," but I can assure you it is a seriously considered and proven set of work habits and processes.

2) I don't believe you for a variety of reasons. :) Also, BTW, the color palette has been there for awhile albeit as an easter egg, now a feature

3) Despite my utmost respect for Hink, I have to disagree with him. The best DAW for audio editng is PT. :P

That's my 2 miliseconds of the 2 tenths of one cent that was previously mentioned 8)

Those that can, do. Those that can't, argue about it on k-v-r

No Samplitude/Sequoia? I am surprised. See my latest post on the subject.

My favourite DAW is PreSonus Studio One. It's not available yet; therefore it does everything I want it to do. In my mind. :-)
If you listen hard enough, you can still hear the silence.
