tropicalontour wrote:I think I read something in the mega thread about the installer not doing anything if you try to install the drum samples on any external hard drive. Is that true? If so, that's a big groan from me. C: just does not have the room.

Can anybody confirm or deny? I'm running Vista and it's UAC is traditionally the bug bear of installers, but this sounded like something worse.

My current strategy is to download everything, patches as well, and then try to install it all in one big insane session of frustration. Otherwise, it feels too much like a developer's construction kit for my taste.

I'm just hoping that the fixup files that will come at the end will fix all of the weirdnesses with graphics and settings that have been reported by early downloaders. I've been downloading files as soon as I can, stealing moments from my day to do so. My greatest fear is that I have downloaded lots of files that were subsequently fixed (I DL'd the now removed-for-tweaks John Bonham DM2 kit this morning, for example) and that I will wind up having to DL them all again.

OK, the GB is excellent value, but it sure has the feel of making it up as we go :)

With UAC disabled you can install the library anywhere on your system. However, with UAC enabled you must choose either your documents folder or an external hard drive for the location of the library.

Thanks!
Same snare but hit in a different spot, slightly different mix as well.

I recommend getting the MT version of that kit if you like it.

How do these kits work with VDrums? Is there a tutorial or anything? My cousin plays V drums(not sure which set though) and I was going to suggest this GB. Can you import the sounds into the brain? Or do you have to send MIDI from the set to a DAW or what? Thanx :)

OK, I see!
It seems the MT version of that kit is different from the stereo kit that we got from the GB.

It's not a different kit if that's what you're asking. The mixes can be different but with a little eq and selection of hits to play you can get pretty close. But if you love that kit then I recommend choosing the MT version since you get one for FREE in this and you can decide for yourself which you like best.

V-Drums don't accept outside samples in the brain unfortunately. But even if it did it wouldn't be to this degree (800 meg kits). You send midi from it just like you would a keyboard. It works great. You can watch a basic video of OWD from V-Drums explained here www.oceanwaydrums.net/videos.php but we'll be doing a lot more when we get back from NAMM and all throughout the year.

Do V Drums have a MIDI out? I don't know that much about his set(obviously  ).

Is the Esoundz office open this weekend?

I joined the GB, but have never received the download links or redeem codes. I read that I needed to be patient, but then again I just read "YOU MUST REDEEM YOUR CODE FOR INFINITE PLAYER OR JAZZ KIT BY MONDAY!"

I've emailed Allen and am hoping for the best.

I hope there is a tutorial on installation. There is a lot of info here...

Thx,
Vernon

Then I'd suggest that you email allen at esoundz dot com. They are probably closed, but you never know....
