Why? It's their money, and their choice, isn't it?
Waves created a free processor chain preset for their users that does an incredible job at filtering out the vuvuzela noise. But to use it, you need to own the plugins. So what's the problem with any of that? Waves sells plugins. It's what they do. If you don't own the plugins the preset employs, you can buy them. That's what costs $2900. It's the WNS plugin, at its regular price. There's no trickery there. They've created a free value added bonus for those that have bought WNS and Q10. I don't suspect you think Waves should have instead designed a free vuvuleza filtering preset for, say, Antress plugins. Do you?

I assume this preset was designed with broadcasters in mind, primarily, and most broadcasters already own all of the Waves plugins. And if you're going to get all outraged over how much money broadcasters spending on a plugin, you ought to take a look at the licensing fee to carry the World Cup!

We are no stupid enough to think that Waves should have designed a free vuvuzela filter because they haven't designed or provided anything for free since they are alergic to free and they love dollars or any other currency! Well, good for them but peaople are still better off buying a Mac and using the prosoniq plug. After the world cup they will be left with a brand new computer.

Yeah, Waves are morons. Still the most used plugins by professionals, but you are absolutely right. They don't know what the hell they are doing. /sarcasm

Soon, Sibelius will include all of the vuvuzela's special articulation-marks -- yet another reason to choose Sibelius over Finale or Notion!!!

Really, though: "ff" isn't correct -- it should clearly be "sfffffffz" -- I have to alert the engraver to this egregious mistake.

Killing the vuvuzela is an act of homogenization of the world cultures to the standards of the white west. It is driven by the forces of commercialization of our everyday life. It is a racist act. It is a colonial and patronising attitude.

It would be far better to develop a plugin that could kill the commentary voice so we can listen to the actual soundscape of the stadium!! If it could kill the commercials that would be perfect!!
