well im not that impressed either but a new waldorf synth is always a welcome, ofcourse i expect further impovements in the next year and posibly a wavetable editor

cheers!

I really like this one...thanks for the laugh, and demo too.
So, just don't play the PPG this way (this sentence could be from Steve Jobs).
:hihi:

It's a really good synth btw, and can tell that a lot of time and skill was put into making it.

Wavetables is to make yourself bored wrote me some time ago, an employee of Waldorf. There will be one hundred years no wavetable editor.

PPG may not be modular as some of the stuff today but it is good if not the best on Wavetable synthesis. If you aim for that and you are looking for old spirits then this is for you. Clear as that.

anyone know where to get the manual for this? I's not included with the download.
I'm booting osx into 64bit mode if that makes a difference anyone

My os is 64 bit as well, though I run my host in 32 bit mode.

it surely is the best wavetable synth but it can and will be better, fingers crossed :)

Geez I'll try again tonight. Was really looking forward to it too

ok I feel dumb. I'll take my statement back. I inserted my uad precision limiter and the true colors shone through. Very big improvement from previous version. Very impressive after all.

Greetings Fabriciom. i am glad you were able to hear the beauty of it. You will be more impressed when you start to hear how it's various sounds can sit in a mix.

Don't forget that many of these wavetables have been used in countless productions since the 80's. So there is a built in familiarity with the character of the instrument which is quite a benefit to the producer.

I can say it has changed my perception of what is possible. I created the following youtubes with just one instance of the plugin(multimode) and no more then some compression and some Allen and Heath XONE 92 filters...

'Le Pistolate Italiane'

'Stubenhocker'

The PPG alone can literally do it ALL.

This next one was done in the traditional way with a sequencer host and other effects and instruments.

All said and done it is one of the most powerful and inspiring instruments i have utilized.

Also here is some of the best advice on programming with wavetables.(from the inventor himself Mr. Palm)

* with the exception of a new patch called "sergio JdM" which was programmed after some correspondence with Mr. Palm concerning the creation of a harmonica type sound. His advice was "there is no special wavetable for it...you can only improvise. Find a waveform which comes near to your needs, and add the other features of that instrument. Sometimes these "other features" are more important than the waveform itself! "

Had no problems downloading, installing, authorizing on Dell Laptop xps1530.

Preses from Trippler are wicked. Not too shabby from Rob Lee and Ingo as well.

I think that inventor guy Mr. Palm still knows what he's doing. ( joke)

Look forward to the add on preset banks from others.

When does it become available to buy ?

Cheers

Here is my response from another thread which could solve some confusions:

PietW. wrote: The PPG does not have a wavetable editor. You can still import it into the PPG samples but must all have a certain length. As examples, the Waves of galbanum not work in my demo of the PPG. By ElectraX you can play all of samples and waves. No matter how long and what format the Waves. The sound quality is absolutely brilliant. No Alliasing. For this kind of sound quality, the price is justified. I've been working some time with an alpha version and am very impressed by the sound.
Sorry to be a bit Off topic but i'll respond to this here:

1.) The Galbanum waves work in the PPG 3.V, you have to use the right setting for the loop (LOOp ON and loop end to the maximum). I'll try to use some of the waveforms for my next PPG 3.V soundbank.

2.) a request for a wavetable editor is already in the database for the PPG 3.V beta tests.

3.) In the PPg 3.V you have four modes. True PPG off with full quality and three True PPG modes (2.2, 2.3, 2.V) with different quality settings.

4.) You could use samples with different length and formats in the PPG, in some you have to set the root key and loop settings yourself. One of my samples for the factory sounds is around 10 or more seconds long. I haven't tested it myself but i heard once of problems with samples over 10 MB. I'll check that. Since only the left channel of a stereo sample is used you could use Mono samples to make the file smaller.
An improved sample import with better root key detection for example could be part of a future update.

5.) Even without samples or a wavetable editor you have 120 wavetables at the moment which should be enough at the moment. If wolfgang Palm finds some time maybe some more will be in future updates.

6.) For using multisamples you could use the multimode with it's zone settings and save this as a fxb file. Some examples are in the factory sounds.

7.) You could import Waveterm B image files in .WTB format. This is possible with e.g. the Waveterm c from Herman Seib:
http://www.hermannseib.com/english/synt ... avesim.htm
http://www.hermannseib.com/waveterm/

I haven't tested the wavetables of ElectaX but for me the PPG 3.V is still the master of wavetable synthesis, together with some other Waldorf synths. On the other hand both synths are difficult to compare IMO.
