Just been playing some more with the Fairlight samples and when you start messing with the filters and attack/release you can get some great Boards of Canada type drones and lo-fi weirdness out of the sounds-Well smart collection of sounds.
Hope everyone makes a donation to him who downloads it-He deserves to get his guitar back at the very least.

Now this is something I've been waiting for! Will definitly donate once I got some cash to donate. I bought this last x-mas Hollowsun's vintage sample library, but it sure seams that this libray has much more of the original sounds. So once more a big thanks!

Thank you all for all the donations. You are certainty a generous bunch.

As for the version of Kontakt, I wasn't sure, but I don't remember using any features new from 3.5. Maybe NI adds something to the nki that just forces you upgrade? That kinda sucks. Maybe I should use an older version in the future.

matt1314 wrote:Man this is really amazing! You are a hero creating that library! ;D Thank you a lot! I really would like to make a donation but I'm still at school so I don't earn my own money. But you will get a donation from me when I'll be able to do one, I promise! Here's a little demo song I created just now to show some animal samples and the famous "Arr" lead as the melody, check it out if you want and forgive me my lousy playing:

That's really neat. The animals and effects are some of my favorite things in the Fairlight, and the looping is really clever (mostly the effects). I wonder who sat down and looped those back then. Tons of sweet vox and strings too. Deliciously warm and lofi.

Thank you for posting this. Long live page R!!

Besides my collaborations with Steve (Synth Magic) concerning factory presets for his Kontakt synths i'll also work on some of my own Kontakt stuff soon (again with help from Steve...). Already have done some multisamples for this...

Love those Quadra presets (and Quadra of course!). I was thinking it would be cool to add a user presets folder with additional patches in it as long as the samples don't get copied again. Then they could be released as updates. I tried not to take any liberties with the main library. I'd love to hear what you came up with so far.

Ah one more thing. These sounds can be pretty aliased. After checking out this site with pure Fairlight samples, I noticed that that's just the way it is. I made sure that the filter is off in all instruments, but the cutoff is set at 31.9 khz, which I feel is a fair setting to get rid of some of it, while not affecting the sound too much. So if the aliasing bothers you too much while playing, clicking on the LPF button is a quick way to make things better for a cleaner jam :)

Hi,

thanks for your kind words. I really love your Fairlight samples/presets!!

Currently i'm also working on finishing the reprogramming of my Quadra presets to the latest version (with the Limeflavour GUI).
I have also made a lot of presets for new Jen SX3000 of Synth Magic, i don't know if you checked that already.

Last week (after selling lots of unused softsynths from my huge collection..) i got a Moog Slim Phatty rack and am currently programming a bank for that. i have also started to do multisamples of that one. :)

If i find any time (which currently could be difficult but anyway...) i'll try to do some presets for your Fairlight using the included controls and maybe some stuff which i could ad myself (e.g. additional FXs).

Best wishes,
Ingo

Yep, I watched the Synth Magic Jen SX3000 videos earlier this week. It's #1 in my to-get Kontakt list. Patiently waiting for your updated Quadra ones :)

I don't wanna make you feel like I'm pushing it. I mean that if folks come up with cool patches, I'd like to check 'em out/add them.

I've just done a quick test-run of your Fairlight IIx Kontakt library. Really good and extensive library, I like that a lot. There is just a tiny problem though: When using your hack then the library doesn't show up in Kontakt 4.23.

Hmm, how about pasting your .reg file here and maybe I can figure it out?

About it appearing as a library, it is a simple registry add, and the image in the root folder of the lib, named wallpaper.bmp/jpg....
Sorry for the off-topic, but I'm on a Mac OSX and would love to create my own "custom libraries" under the Library tab. Does anyone know how to go about doing this on a Mac? I'm computer savvy so it's not a problem if it's a bit technical. PM me if you need to...thanks
I found this on one of my journeys. I don't have a Mac, so hopefully you know what all means...
1. go to Macintosh HD/Library/Preferences
2. locate one .plist file for example com.native-instruments.Symphobia.plist and copy and paste it
3. rename it to your desired library name e.g com.native-instruments.Tonehammer Waterphone.plist
4. open it with Plist Pro and edit it by deleting all its entries except : a. ContentDir and b. Visibility (which needs to be set to 3)
5. now open com.native-instruments.Content.plist
6. create a new sibling and name is something like k2libxxxx (where xxxx use any 4 digit numbers, NOT the same as any other existing entries in the file.. So for example k2lib0001 and name it Tonehammer Waterphone
7. Point your library's location under ContentDir in the com.native-instruments.Tonehammer Waterphone.plist
8. Add the wallpaper for your library tab. It must be located in the root folder of your library (that is, the folder you wrote in ContentDir). JPG, PNG and TGA images will work, however I advise using PNG. I use image with dimensions 331x98 pixels.
9. Open Kontakt ... and voila!

Thank you for creating such an amazing library! :D Glad you liked it, if you wish you could add it to the first page so people can have a little demo before downloading your library.

I also had a problem with it not showing up in Kontakt. But I fixed it later on. The names from the "Content" registry key and the library name weren't the same. First off I wanted to call the library "Fairlight CMI IIx" but then added "-fabel" because the folder was called liked that when I unpacked it and Kontakt couldn't find the library. So check whether all names in the EDITME file are the same as well as there are double slashes at the end as noted in the text file itself. That's how it looks like in my registry (I used number 3838):

Correct. Having libs in the lib tab not only looks pretty, but if the lib is organized, it makes everything easier to work with. When possible, I like to reorganize and batch-resave stuff so the instruments are easily accessible, and the samples out of the way. I also keep the .reg for each one, so if I have to reinstall Windows, I just have to double-click them to add them.

Example:

PS, I'm still figuring out Wordpress, as I usually just serve stuff from my computer. Apparently I have to approve stuff before it's posted? But I will definitely add your Animals song. I'd love to have a render of it (mp3 or FLAC) if possible :D

Sure, if you like, I can PM you an mp3 of it, no problem. ;)

That sounds amazing! That's the best I've ever heard in a sampler, even the analog filters in my EMAX and S612 don't sound nearly that good.

Haha, nice that you linked that to Miami Vice. I should see this movie, I've never seen it before. :(
