Well, if you're going to have C/R you better have active support .. i think audiojunkie has a fair right to express his disgust vs this system. We should all thank him for being persistent and fighting for OUR rights as consumers.

Interesting. Why do they made an update then? I'm not questioning what you're saying but seems silly to make an update of software that can be only purchased 2nd hand. Novation..chk071 wrote:Nowhere, it is not being sold anymore. You might have luck on KVR market place though to get a "used" copy.

If you had read the whole thread, you would have seen that not everyone feels hassled by the copy protection like he does, and you do, obviously.Crackbaby wrote:Well, if you're going to have C/R you better have active support .. i think audiojunkie has a fair right to express his disgust vs this system. I could be wrong, but afaik, they never offered a download version of this. Meaning they always sold it boxed, so, i figure, as it is an old plugin, that the buyings were decreasing so much that it didn't make sense anymore for them to sell it for the original price, so they decided to stop selling it, but still wanted to offer the people who bought it 64-bit compatibility. Either way, it is not uncommon in the software world.dalor wrote:Interesting. Why do they made an update then? It might if he'd just used his last activationchk071 wrote:Actually i would think so, yes. That's not the point though, U-o said that the support does not reply, then audiojunkie picks up the point to express why he thinks that the copy protection sucks so much, although U-o's support request has nothing to do with not being able to authorize his product.

Vendor‑Dependent Copy Protection: Customers lose. Pirates win.
(Also: I'm Accused of lying about Linux—it boots, runs my pro audio workflow, stays stable, updates--though yearly dismissed as “niche”. Yet I'm the deluded one.)

I bought mine as a download from some no-brainer type sale. I too find it highly unusual for them to stop selling a product and then release a free update for it regardless of whether the update contains copy protection. I'm not understanding the business strategy in this, although I'm sure there is one... Either way, I think it was a nice gesture from novation to offer this upgrade for free--even if I'll never use it.chk071 wrote:I could be wrong, but afaik, they never offered a download version of this. Doesn't make much sense to me either, but who knows...audiojunkie wrote: I bought mine as a download from some no-brainer type sale. Is it just me, or is this update completely bugged? The knob's activity isn't visible when you control the plugin from a midi controller, the voice display at the bottom isn't working... and in the VST3 version you can't choose the patches? Think i need to revert back to v1.7 if they don't fix this soon...
Edit: Ok, just found this:

Still the GUI issues though...Known Issues:
Host presets not available for VST3

Wot a about a V-station 2 synth or a new plugin synth from Novation. That could be cool.

Coincidentally i started a thread some days ago on Novation forums, about a software version of the Ultranova. Not much response yet, but maybe you wanna join?

The forum is kind of dead though, but who knows? If many people join in...

So this is what you get when people are OVERLY CONCERNED ABOUT SOME FRIKN 64BIT SUPPORT!!!
They should've upped the poly instead.
Totally useless update for me!
Btw. I bought it for 20£ few years back. New, boxed, from the shop. Cheap as chips.

I was demoing this and think
For anyone who runs into polyphony problems, you could always use 2 instances if you need that extra polyphony.
Just use something like Xlutop chainer?
Also programming this is a breeze, it's about as straightforward as a minimoog IMO.
