I've been looking at getting a mk2 for a couple of weeks now. Does the free 2.0 upgrade only affect maschines bought off NI official shop online or any local store or online shop?
What if I get a used maschine that haven't been registered on it's former owner, can I still get the free upgrade from 1.8?
Anyone knows? Thanks.

I'm not sure how it could be used by anyone as a full DAW solution unless you're really only using samples and software instruments. Maybe this is what the kids are doing now... damned if I know.KevWestBeats wrote:I saw this yesterday. Its very very exciting. If this becomes the full DAW solution many Maschine users are looking for I wonder how many people will leave their current DAWs for it. I am heavily considering going all Maschine if the software is up to snuff.

I'm sorry but for $1000.00 this absolutely should have had an integrated 2x2 Audio interface.zerocrossing wrote:I'm not sure how it could be used by anyone as a full DAW solution unless you're really only using samples and software instruments. I guess it could become this but it would need a whole bunch of features before it was approaching something like Live or it's competition. Remember, it still doesn't do sample stretching. Still.
It's not like they don't know how to make them.

If you're trying to record vocals, I can't imagine why you wouldn't just host Maschine in another DAW and use the two side by side.zerocrossing wrote:I'm not sure how it could be used by anyone as a full DAW solution unless you're really only using samples and software instruments. I don't think it makes sense for NI to venture into linear audio tracks territory and then have to deal with comping, linear arrangement...etc. Maschine's workflow should focus on what it excels at: sampling and hands-on hardware control.

can you record audio live into Machine as a sample - then trigger it as samples similar to an audio track?

Yes. Your audio sample can be played back 3 different ways.analoguesamples909 wrote:can you record audio live into Machine as a sample - then trigger it as samples similar to an audio track?
Oneshot (once triggered it plays until end of sample - could be one sec or one minute/ doesn't matter if pattern ends it still plays - this is one work around to patterns cutting themselves off)
ADSR (like a synth plays)
AHD (not really sure what this one does sorry).
Any new Maschine will work for free upgrade. Awhile back in the summer they had a promo for 6 free expansions for new Maschine purchases. One user on the forum had bought Maschine a few months earlier and hadn't registered it. When he did, he qualified for the free expansions. Based on that I'd say if Maschine wasn't registered with its former owner (which means Maschine ran in Demo mode the whole time the previous owner had it) you would qualify for free upgrade to 2.0krixa wrote:Does the free 2.0 upgrade only affect maschines bought off NI official shop online or any local store or online shop?

You can, but it has to be split by phrases or things get messy in the arranger. It is not an optimal work flow. Then again, I don't see it as a real problem. There are many different ways to use Maschine, and most limitations can be worked around. It can be used as a full DAW if that's what you really want, but it wont be the best because that is not what it was designed for. Personally I do a lot of writing in Maschine, a fleshed out sketch if you will, then bring a track into Cubase to finish up. You can then massage what is necessary back into maschine for live playing if needed.analoguesamples909 wrote:can you record audio live into Machine as a sample - then trigger it as samples similar to an audio track?

cool thanks guys. With the one shot mode - does it stop playback when you press stop of the maschine sequencer?

It just keeps playing until the end of the sample unfortunately. At least it did back when I first tried using it this way.analoguesamples909 wrote:cool thanks guys. With the one shot mode - does it stop playback when you press stop of the maschine sequencer?

Yeah, on the price subject, I'm in full agreement. Is that MSRP? Lots of places sell 15% or more under MSRP, so that might put it in a slightly better price range. JRR Shop always does a KVR forum discount. Regardless though, I kind of agree with you even though I could care less about an audio interface. I've got two MOTU 828s collecting dust (Wanna buy 'em?) and a shiny new PreSonus 16.0.2 that more than suit my needs. So an audio interface on this would go totally unused for me, but I could see if I were a performing electronic musician who wanted to use Maschine at a gig it would be pretty useful to not have to have yet another piece of gear.Gymnopedies wrote:I'm sorry but for $1000.00 this absolutely should have had an integrated 2x2 Audio interface.zerocrossing wrote:I'm not sure how it could be used by anyone as a full DAW solution unless you're really only using samples and software instruments. That's what the ADSR is for though.extramedium wrote:It just keeps playing until the end of the sample unfortunately. Heads up for those pre-ordering: Maschine Studio is $899 at Guitar Center with the 10% off promo code. That's $100 off of Studio and $60 off of the MK2. The code is RMN10 and it's good until 1/1/14.
And you can price match that coupon at zZounds for an additional discount.

I bought Maschine MKII for $600 from americanmusical.com about 2 months ago. I got 6 free expansion packs with it.
When I saw the Machine Studio press release I was like, "WTF".
I'm not sure if I would have waited for studio if I knew it was going to come out - $1000 is kind of pricey.
I hope I get a free software upgrade though, the software has some great features.

This is a tough choice for people that don't have the hardware.
If you get "studio", you pay a bundle but it looks REALLY nice. If you get MKII, it's still really nice but no quite the same, fits on a desktop better and still runs the software.
Not an easy choice, it's easier for me. Studio is too big and my maschine MKI works like a champ. 99 bucks and I'm done.

I'm assuming you mean something different from time stretching or maybe you mean realtime time stretching... Because it does do offline time stretching...?zerocrossing wrote:
