Dear Yildirim,

as usual, I only understand a fraction of what you are showing in the "Generate & Re Harmonize" video series. Here are some questions:

1) I don't quite understand how you arrive at the chord-progression in the master track. You wrote, I think in part 2, that the chords are already inscribed in the midi-files as they come from Reaper, and you seem to show in part 3, how you analyzed those chords with a plug-in within Reaper. So far so good. But how does the chord-progression now land in RC's master track? This is my main question for now.
2) Besides that: those midi-pieces that you pull in, from which composer are they, originally?
3) I guess, I don't quite understand the whole re-harmonization-business in RC. But I'll have to come up with more detailed questions next time.
4) In part 3 of the series, I'm not clear about anything: Is there a certain strategy that you are teaching us here? Or are you just showing different aspekts of the whole composition in Reaper?

Hi Thomas,

1) key point is the "video part1 "
all the midi files that in the part2 created in RC
as i try to show in part1 randomize Melody Generator and re harmonize it...

once you like the result drag midi to a folder...and keep continue.
in the part2 i am previewing all my RC creation midi files via Reaper's Media Explorer nothing more.
(btw. i didn't touch/change even a single note in them...they just raw output of RC )

so
I think in part 2, that the chords are already inscribed in the midi-files as they come from Reaper

probably just because of my English... i should try to be more clear:
as i said, chords+midi files not coming from Reaper they are already RC creations...
they created with the way i try to show in part1.
about the "main question" i think you wonder the step i mention but didn't show in the videos...
if so..
For Example
let say you want to continue to work on and add more instruments one of this midi files and finally want to create an arrangement..
just start a new project in RC and drag this midi file to RC
on Midi Import tab just select the chord track for "Analyze" ...Done!
that's what i meant with "chord progression already in the midi files"
after importing done you will see chords in the RC's Master track
...
2) Composers = me & beloved RapidComposer :)
3) I wouldn't use "teaching".. its a very Big word... no i was just trying to show/share:
you can continue to create arrangements in your DAW later...with all this midi files that created with RC.

actually as a final words i should say this:
All the midi files that you saw in the 3 videos; was created with RC.

i hope it helps.

Best Wishes
Yıldırım.

Ah, that definitely helped, Yildirim. Thanks much!

Hello Nevzat, I saw a video on you showing how you made original phrases from midi files, the link of video is posted below, and I was wondering how did you export the midi sections from your DAW to RapidComposer Phrase format that has an extension ending with, .rcPHRS?

Hi,
export extension from DAW is midi "mid"
as you can see at the end of the video i glued all selection as a one item...
then (not in the video but) export ( in Reaper's term Alt+Drag to desktop)
as midi file then import to RC.

additionally (just in case) :
when importing this long midi files to RC un select the Analyze, Convert and Create Structure boxes just leave IMPORT box checked
after import put one chord C Major to Master Track
and open phrase inspector (right click to the phrase) switch to Object Properties tab (gear icon)
see there Convert To Relative Form, and select " Mapping: Chord Notes [+Scale Steps] " then press to Convert To Relative Form.
now only thing you need to split phrase manually

a) set Main Snap and Grid to "Bar"

b) keep phrase inspector open and right click to phrase you will see the play cursor placed where you right clicked
for example right click to bar 3 and in the phrase inspector press to "Split 'midi' At 3.1.00...right click to bar 5 and press to split midi again
so on..

c) after splitting done select all phrases, in the same tab of phrase inspector see "To Group:" and "Rename To:"
group is the folder RC will save the phrases automatically in it
for example type "My Vivaldi Selection/Nice_3-4_Staccatos...RC will create this structure automatically in your "Custom Phrase" folder.

for the Rename To
give a name for example VivSelection_001... this 001 will increase to 002 , 003 automatically by RC till the last phrase
hit to Save Selected Phrases and let the RC finish the task.

i hope it helps.

Hi yellukhan,

sorry, but I again didn't get that. Would you mind to elaborate? How do you "force all notes to a C Major triad in Reaper?
