It would be cool just to pass audio through, but there's also the possibility to send midi to it. So it could be possible to have harmonic effects. I guess it depends on the included modules as to how useful that would be.Angus_FX wrote:@audiosabre what did you want to try? Just the effect engines themselves or..? Seems to me they'd be way more fun driven from a Sugar Bytes-y effect sequencer thingumabob than merely bolting an audio input on to Fusor.

Wow! They sound great... It's very very close indeed. I think some people should really have a listen to these. It would open them up to new possibilities.himalaya wrote:and then some!Robmobius wrote:Strobe is already a monster!
But I like it a lot when it's doing simple duties like...emulating the Roland SH-101![]()
strobe vs hardware Sh-101:

The one one thing I didn't like about Strobe (and Cypher) was the small interface. But now that's fixed !!
And the other advantage of Strobe vs the 101 hardware, is that it stacks so well. Plus and you've way more options. Strobe still has that 'wow', for me anyway. Despite the fact, that there are lots of new synths about these days.

Here's an alternate look for the GUI I've been playing around with. Still 100% vector, with all the good things that implies (so much more flexibility at run time than bitmaps), but a bit more of a "3d" feel with real looking keys etc.

That looks slick and very clean Angus.Angus_FX wrote:Here's an alternate look for the GUI I've been playing around with. Still 100% vector, with all the good things that implies (so much more flexibility at run time than bitmaps), but a bit more of a "3d" feel with real looking keys etc.
I work with vectors as much as I can (in my day job), because raster images, just don't scale and are a pain to edit if they've got gradients or blur FX, etc..

Will you have voice per channel midi for some mod source? (e.g. pitchbend per note)Angus_FX wrote: @himalaya Synth Squad won't do exactly what the OB (or Trimmers) do - it has per-voice parameter variation (well, actually quite a few different mod sources which do that), but you can only control the overall depth, not the individual values for each voice. DIVA's Trimmers let you tweak each voice by hand, so you can have 7 out of 8 voices in tune and one.. not so much, etc.
(useful for expressive controllers, such as Eigenharps, Continuum, Linnstrument, Soundplane, Seaboard)

Good Q thetechnobear. We made a special edition for Roli Labs which has four lanes of one note per channel control (pitchbend, x, y, pressure and a spare). So that's likely to be carried forward in v2.

@billcarroll We're testing in-house now. External beta probably next month, depending how bad I get hit with NAMM 'flu (never an "if", just a "how much").
Here's the latest UI (dark look). Colours are all user-editable if you like to hack, by default it'll ship with dark and light looks.
The UI now fully supports Retina displays if you're lucky enough to have one, although it's hard to demonstrate this in a browser (web pages don't understand dpi in images).

I wish we had!
In all seriousness though - if we'd done so, we'd A) be bragging about it from the rooftops, and B) not be leaving their customers feeling worried and uncertain without good reason. As would every potential buyer I can think of, bar one - Camel is/was a very highly regarded team, even the bigger players - InMusic, Gibson, Yamaha, NI, Ableton, Avid - would be making a lot of noise about it, I think. Company ownership here (UK) is a matter of public record, so the truth will surely come to light before too long.

Be careful, the flu is hitting California hard right now and the flu shot the government specified protects against the wrong strain. It's going to be bad this year.Angus_FX wrote:depending how bad I get hit with NAMM 'flu (never an "if", just a "how much").

Hi Angus. Loving the gui so far. It's refreshing to break away from photorealistic knobs. Short and to the point.
Not to get off the subject, but...will fxpansion ever release digital-inspired fm/wavetable synths? I'm a sucker for them. Maybe modeling the PPG lpf and DA conversion noise from the DX7? I think with the rising popularity of wavetable softsynths like Nave and PD synths like VirtualCZ there's certainly a market for them.
