it'd be nice to have a final blowout sale rather than it just quietly disappearing, im sure plenty people would pick it up just for a play and some new inspiration

I doubt many ppl would buy a product with no support.
They probably would if it was cheap, say $99 (Approx £75) and they clearly stated it was cheap due to having no support. The instruments in it are fantastic. Worth it just for Pro 9 and Monobass that is.

until stuff goes wrong, and SA end up with countless emails asking for support for a paid product even tho it was sold without support....

Saukar30 wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2015 3:10 am Its a shame to see Orion go, but I wish Rich the best.

I still use Orion so I really hate to see it go as I've been a user for awhile, but for the past couple of years I've really adopted Reaper as my DAW workhorse (mainly because of CPU usage of VSTis and it being the best for audio for how I create). However, if Orion would've been updated I would've went along and bought it no questions asked. Nothing can beat the workflow of the mixer or the drumrack.

I hope in the future more developers & hopefully Rich as well learn that you have to pay attention to the wants of your user base. Many times I have seen reasonable requests ignored or shut down for Orion on the Synapse forum by many of the more seasoned users and moderators (even my own). I understand that every company & business owner has a vision of what they want their product to be, but disregarding what your paying customer base requests without any response is like shooting yourself in the foot. To stay in business you inevitably have to grow. Maybe the new sequencer will be more of a rewrite.
Yeah exactly what Reason has done for 15 years. I just switched to Reaper 8 months ago and loving it. Track Folders, Track Templates, VST 3 Support, Undo History, Slice By Playhead, Chord Painting and Midi Chase are 6 things straight off the top of my head Reason still hasn't implemented. It's the 5th oldest daw I think behind Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic and FL Studio and they only implemented muting midi notes in version 11 10 months ago lol!

Touch The Universe wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2015 10:04 pm Yes, very sad indeed :( There were some really cool things being planned for the next Orion version on the beta site that I would dearly love to have seen implemented.

About Dune 2 having more business, to me it makes sense at least because he's spent the past couple years on it entirely, so of course the money will follow where your efforts were placed.

I'm still holding out hope though!!! At least until an official declaration is made, until then the only thing I can do is beg and plead to keep Orion alive..
I know this is going back over 5 and a half years now but can you remember what was being planned?
very little that I recall....

As I said, CLEARLY stated no support is offered and do what Propellerhead (now Reason Studio's) has done for the whole of time, just never respond or give in. As soon as people ask for support just send a message or e-mail back saying, "Sorry, we are not updating this software or offering support. It was stated in the contract" lol! and then add a link to their forum lol!

(I tried Orion many years ago, and liked it, but eventually ended up using FL Studio because it does so much more. (I hope that's not sacrilege in this thread!))
And I also love Dune 2, so I can understand why he took this step.
Yes, been using the demo recently and I'm quite surprised at how similar to FL Studio it is.

Huh?

I don't understand a word. Reason Studios don't provide support for their software? Synapse should release software without support?

Very strange statements.

Reason Studios can no longer solve problems, so they silently close tickets after six months.

Closing single tickets is something entirely different to not supporting software at all.

I don't think single forum users are a very reliable source for such information either.

I transferred my Reason Lite license a couple of days ago, BTW. If they wouldn't support their software, they wouldn't do license transfers. Duh.

Totally! The users kept asking for audio-tracks and got ignored, they asked for VST support and got ignored, they asked to be able to load Reason as a plugin in other hosts and kept getting ingnored and more stuff like that - has this company EVER implemented something the users asked for? Nah, I don't think so, so you totally have a point here! Good on you mate - always stay on the factual side of things! :tu:
