Priceless.

Though to the last line he should have added: "...or that you're a white degenerate from the swamps of Mississipi."

(dying)
Ha ha suck it!

Says it all.
Starting out with a domain called "music that makes you dumb" probably wasn't the wisest idea. I wonder how he feels about Lil Wayne.

This would be a famous song...to me anyway.

+1 Don't Go could easily be my favourite slice of 7" platic ever.

But I find their albums a bit sketchy though, I Before E... and Happy People :scared:

As long as you can autotune or rap to it, I'm in. We'll be billionaires.

Note: seeing as Sufjan Stevens is correlated with a higher SAT score (aside from Beethoven, who I suspect was cited by name by exactly one person in the, ahem, study), hipsters are clearly smarter than most. And people who claim to be fans of 'classical' generically probably only say it to try to sound smart. Fans of Lil Wayne may require additional explanation that uses shorter words.

Is there a study that proves that fans of Lil Wayne are any less intelligent than fans of Beethoven?

Seriously.
Beethoven "fans" normally claim/have a higher social status. Like owners of hardware.

All you need to do is listen. Then put your f..... hands in the air. Need to see them f..... hands in air.

If you are comparing that to Beethoven, you have my condolences.

Son, I know I have more experience producing, composing, arranging, and orchestrating music than you do. I do what I do for a living. One thing people that produce learn early on is that you don't look at things as being better or worse. Music is there for everybody, whatever their needs are. Music is there to entertain if you want that, move you, stimulate you intellectually, make you tap your foot, shake your ass. It's all good.

Yes, from a harmonic standpoint innovation pretty much ended with Wagner. That doesn't mean there hasn't been good music since, only a person who will ultimately fail as a producer, composer, arranger, orchestrator thinks that. So, I don't know what your goals are, but if any of the above are, you need to reassess and heed words from a person who knows more than you.

Now you can take that advice and act like a little punk about it and ultimately get nowhere; or absorb it, get mad, and use that to help become what you want to become. It's up to you, son. I just did you a favor.
Ha ha suck it!

wow. I would argue that society it's self has been dumbed down. Here's the thing...there is no underground music anymore....and it's ALL pop music. Just turn on your local pop radio station. If you do beat music you ARE pop music. I mean, pop is a very mature form of real music...I mean...is this stupid music?

Post

If classcial music was everywhere, if you couldn't turn on the radio or TV without hearing the same classical piece, if Beethoven was pumped on full volume out of any car on the street instead of LilWayne (or any PopRapEDM artist for that matter)

It's the overexposure that makes us dislike pop music

Look man, I saw it happen. I was there. I'm sure a bunch of other guys who say they have been around since the old analog days did to. A couple of things happened, and it all had to do with the computer revolution. We are all connected now...everything we do, say, or think is broadcast to everyone else. that is a very recent event. Secondly, the whole fiasco that was the music industry. They were determined to keep control of the music so they came up with newer forms of music production and distribution to try to keep competition to a minimum. It backfired on them. Even piss poor digital production today is totally listenable reproduction.

It also made it easier for advertisers to reach young people. Convince them they are something they are not and sell them shit. Now everyone is a superstar in their own minds. They have no idea what they are buying or why. We have to retrain people how to listen and that may be impossible at this point. It's all homogenous blob at this point.

If often is, but doesn't have to be. Lot's of smart stuff out there. Just pick up any Beck album.
