Very clever from you to choice a singing overtone...i couldn't imagine a more appropriate kind of signal than this one for such peculiar sonic manipulations

Cheers, during the last week while waiting for my license I made this list in my head what to try first, and of course overtone singing had to be one of these tests.. I had manipulated overtone singing with Melodyne in the past for various libraries, but this is a new dimension of manipulating sound.

On two computers now I've activated the "Trial" but it is still running in "Player" mode with no editing available.
Restarting the application prompts it to be activated again and there is no longer a trial option.
I have the exact same issue - did you find a solution?

My solution was to pay for it (upgrade from Editor 2 - $149).
At that point the trial option re-appeared on the activation website. :dog:

Hope you got it for a bit less than webshop price..

I'm afraid that won't be my solution, I need to try this thing to know if I really like it, I contacted Celemony support yesterday, but haven't heard from them.

Another thing annoys me: The trial installation has overwritten my Melodyne editor 2 - in my view this is a sort of hijack (it's only a trial, should have been a parallel installation).

Yeah that is pretty terrible. I presume you would need to use the uninstaller and then reinstall editor 2.

I have to say once I got the new version up and running I feel less cranky about not getting a proper test. New features are great and it runs much better than v2.

lalo wrote:Hi all guys, anyone knows something about automation features on Melodyne 4 plugin version?
thanks
Formant/Pitch/Volume can be automated, none of the sliders in the sound design department can be automated. I suggest to be your own automation and record transitions directly to disk via a buss, analog automation like in the 1970s.
:D thanks. no multitouch screen here so one parameter only old school automation. not really like in the '70s. little sadness. but i'm used to it. often proper vst automation is not well implemented in some great softwares (tassmann 4, the whole XILS series to name just a few that have only 0..127 MIDI CC). maybe melodyne 5? :D

I hope it ends so, I mean that I get convinced to upgrade. For some reason even just with the player I had some glitches (where I didn't on v2). Hmm - stil no answer from Melodyne. I'm sure they're busy, but they should be prepared for helping customers out. I hope for the best.

This is the reply I got from Celemony, re the trial activation issue.

For the trial activation please try following:

Delete all previously downloaded Melodyne zip or dmg files.
Uninstall Melodyne from your computer
Log into your account and download the newer version (Melodyne 4.0.2.002) (or download the Trial again)
Install Melodyne 4 version 4.0.2.002
Start melodyne and click the activate button.

Didn't work for me but might be worth trying.

Possible Studio activation workaround? If you can only activate the "player" Try HELP>License upgrade/Trial and it should give you a web option to downgrade to Essential trial version. If OK than restart program in this mode. Studio version came up next time for me!! NEW Melodyne 4 version 4.0.2.002

Did you upgrade from v2 editor to v4 studio? Anything missing? Stability wise? workflow wise? which daw?

I cant wait to upgrade but I'm holding out for 2 reasons: 1). It will override my perfectly good v2 which I rely on 2). It seems to be unstable.

I don't mind waiting a few more point releases but man that sound editor thingy looks juicy.

I tried this again and again, without any luck - but then suddenly it worked (though for me I had luck with "downgrading" to editor, not essential). Now I can finally try the demo. And BTW, nothing from Celemony support

Thanks for the tip. :hyper:

Celemony's customer support seems to have been totally overloaded since the release, I tried 3 times last week and never got a reply until Monday.
