any update on this? it would certainly be great to have these rate divisions, not sure how this wasn't an option from the start.jack [psychicmodulation] wrote:jbw wrote:While I have your ear, any chance we could get fraction rates for the sequencer and arp? Currently the rates are: 2, 4, 8, etc. Would be nice to have something less than that: 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc.
Why? Well, because say you have a project's tempo already set, there's no way to drop the rate of the arp or sequencer below the project tempo. Everything therefore is faster than the project tempo.
That's a great idea. It would definitely open up the possibilities of the arp/seq working together at very different rates.

finally just bought this. any idea why the v2.1 demo installed the "Phonec_2" folder (contains only the default and init banks) directly to my C: location? i don't think that i directed it there, hopefully the full version install doesn't do the same.

There is a no-buy for modern EDM, because it doesn't have a stereo unison or unison at all...Numanoid wrote: Even if Phonec is sold as the BOC synth, it is lot more versatile than that, the meaty sequencer and sub osc should make it capable to rock any EDM joint
Any modern synth without this basic feature for current music market/scene is like a car without wheels.
So i beg the developer to add polyphonic unison with stereo-spread like in other mainstream synts (Sylent1, Spire, etc.).
Because Phonec sounds MUCH better than that popular synths, and poplularity of that synths 90% is for stereo-poly-unison function, that is essential for modern music production. Do you know any VST synth without stereo-polyphonic-unison, as popular as them? Then tell me.
I know so many great sounding synths, but just for lack of stereo-poly-unison i won't buy them, because it's useless for me in my genre (Modern EDM, trance and all that stuff). Even the retrowave stuff often needed unison sounds, we are almost 2017 to use double-tracking with software synths...

did it again. anyone know if the "Phonec 2" folder can be moved elsewhere (like to my VST folder, where Phonec 2 resides)? odd that it installs itself to the top C: directory.jbuonacc wrote:any idea why the v2.1 demo installed the "Phonec_2" folder (contains only the default and init banks) directly to my C: location? i don't think that i directed it there, hopefully the full version install doesn't do the same.

Jack can probably respond if you post in his forum or send email/pm. He may not be watching this thread?

I don't know if it's essential, but I guess it would be quite useful for a lot of people.SoulState wrote:So i beg the developer to add polyphonic unison with stereo-spread like in other mainstream synts (Sylent1, Spire, etc.).

That's where it installs by default. It's just the set location where it reads for the dropdown list of banks when you click the little hexagon in the patch section. You can of course move the Phonec_2 folder elsewhere after install but it will instead open a browser window rather than providing a dropdown with a list of banks.jbuonacc wrote:finally just bought this. any idea why the v2.1 demo installed the "Phonec_2" folder (contains only the default and init banks) directly to my C: location? i don't think that i directed it there, hopefully the full version install doesn't do the same.
Yes, we are finalizing v2.2 right now with slower arp/seq rates and a 1/2 switch for in-between beats.jbuonacc wrote:any update on this? it would certainly be great to have these rate divisions, not sure how this wasn't an option from the start.jack [psychicmodulation] wrote:jbw wrote:While I have your ear, any chance we could get fraction rates for the sequencer and arp? I don't feel this is necessary for a synth like Phonec. I have considered it, but I found that unison had a way of rendering subtle Melt settings almost inaudible. It almost took away from Phonec's character rather than enhance it. Instead I've decided to provide an onboard Chorus that can integrate with the Melt effect. It's much more subtle but it sounds great and works as an overall enhancer. This will be a feature in v2.2 which we are finalizing right now.SoulState wrote:There is a no-buy for modern EDM, because it doesn't have a stereo unison or unison at all...Numanoid wrote: Even if Phonec is sold as the BOC synth, it is lot more versatile than that, the meaty sequencer and sub osc should make it capable to rock any EDM joint

I think anyone who requests that from Phonec, as interesting as it may or may not be, probably misunderstands where Phonec sits among softsynths.
This synth is quite awesome as is. But I am looking forward to any progress made to make a great product better!

can't understand why anyone would want this installed in their C: directory, seems like it should install this in the same place as the plug-in. i noticed that Phonec v1 (still have the demo installed) does this, puts the banks into the same folder. is it possible to change/update this for the v2.2 installer?jack [psychicmodulation] wrote:That's where it installs by default. It seems there's plenty of soft synths that offer that option, this is a pretty special synth that has a certain sound to it.. I don't even know why you would request that because I think it would probably sound like a mess. If it's really necessary you can fake it with any number of effects, MUnison is a good one, but when I think of Phonec it would certainly not be my go to synth for mainroom EDM or trance which thankfully I do not enjoy or produce. (Well I do like trance, but trance from the early-mid 90's, and goa trance is a lot different from the current state of trance). I just don't see this as a feature a lot of people would want from this synth.SoulState wrote:There is a no-buy for modern EDM, because it doesn't have a stereo unison or unison at all...Numanoid wrote: Even if Phonec is sold as the BOC synth, it is lot more versatile than that, the meaty sequencer and sub osc should make it capable to rock any EDM joint

Stereo unison is not something I would expect from a synth like Phonec. Its original design intent was related to the 80's and video recorders, if I remember correctly. Why should it even try to compete with Sylenth1, Spire etc.
