The update from pro 9 is 60 eur = 103 NZD
That's still about 2 bottles of wine and one 600ml of Heineken from U$49 :hihi:

What was the major upgrade price? I mean from version 8 Pro to 9?
as I remember, it used to be 100 eur for major version, 50 eur for 0.5 updates. They raised the price apparently.

My price in JPY is slightly cheaper than euro, even with VAT :hihi:

I bet Cubase customers if they updated each version in that time span have spent the same 300$.
Just not all at once per say.

As for the Cubase upgrade it looks awesome, looks like Steinberg listened to their customers (going on what id seen requested on this website) only wish they gave us an option to not have a dongle. That's one of the main reasons I haven't bit the bait on Cubase despite being envious of some of it's features.
Have to pay $150 for mutli track midi edit, yellow/blue/orange tagging!, zooming!, midi chase!.

Can you defend my wallet instead of ableton?
The Ableton Live update is definitely VERY underwhelming for how long it was in development. Cubase got almost completely revamped during the same period.

you also have to think about live 10 will probably get updates for a few years on the same version like 9 did

i own both but wont be upgrading because i dont have enough cash to justify it but i think they are both good software

I just checked the upgrade from 8.5 Pro to 9.5 Pro (for me) is : NZD 262. I don't know really, I think I'll stay with ver 9 for at least 3 years (and with Windows 10 as well). Ok then, enjoy your 9.5 Cubase and your Asahi ;)
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I didn't activate until 10/ 31.

Nah, I only have Elements actually, and don't think I'll update that. I've been following the prices as I am looking for the best route to upgrade to pro :hihi:

I suggest to upgrade to Artist. You need the dongle though for it to function. I had the Artist (and before that Elements) and I was very happy with it really. The only thing I needed in Pro is the very good score editor (Artist has the basic editor just like in Elements). So, if you don't need the score editor and all the other advanced tools, Artist is a great option :tu:

I've been considering that as well, very reasonable price on sale, too. I really want that variaudio in Pro though. Editing with melodyne inside cubase is a pain.

Upgrade price is pretty fair. Downloaded it today and theres some great improvements like the attached mixer window. Unfortunately you can only see the mixer or only the plugins :(

Also a big pain in the ass is that it overwrites your previous Cubase settings as its technically a clean install. So you have to go back in and customise your preferences once again which is annoying. Good upgrade apart from that though

God bless Steinberg for sticking with the dongle, otherwise I'd be tempted to buy Cubase :)

Elements version doesn't require dongle.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Yeah, but it's pretty elementary - pun intended :D
If I'd ever bother, I'd have to go for Artist or Pro.

Each version of Cubendo makes its own preference folder indeed on both mac and pc.
