they supported v6 forever. the upgrade cost isn’t just a gui update it’s also a format change. mcdsp stuff has served me well for the last 20 years since i’ve been using them. a $30 upgrade cost aint that big of a deal compared ongoing subscription fees of other companies. i just wish they have the EC-300 an updated GUI. i love that delay.

A format change? what do you mean? (they also added an additional ilok activation, finally!!!!)

I am though, definitely in the mcdsp is very overrated, camp.
I use to read about them when they were pro tools only and envied pro tools users based on what I read.
Then it came out as vst and vst3 so I could use them in Cubendo ... I have a few of them..
I can't tell you when last i even used one in a project, even though I have upgraded a few to version 7 never used any in an actual project.

I haven't tried their new spectral processor plugin, but I think 6060 is nice plugin to have if you see it for 100 or lower.

I'm generally not a big fan of strip plugins, but this one just might be the best of them. Something about infinistrip doesn't quite click with me, I don't know if it's the gain-staging, and the code of IKM box's modules probably vary too much (some modules with higher CPU usage and better algos than older ones). Compared to those two, the 6060 is somehow just much more joyful to use, maybe it's simple UI and controls, or maybe the satisfaction that some of the "quirky" modules of 6060 can bring (bob and the 3 saturators come to mind).

I'm not sure if I would use their older plugins, but the 6060 and the spectral processor are interesting.

6034 is a cool concept, as well.

If you're professional producing on a daily basis, you quickly learn to appreciate McDSP plug ins. They have no weak points when it comes to sound quality - in fact they sound superb, use very little CPU and are very reliable tools.

I've tried pretty much all of them.. the only one I purchased was the EC-300 delay. That one is totally unique sounding and excellent!

Wasn't a big fan of the other stuff. Also not a big fan of the company as a whole so they won't be getting any more money from me.

The McDSP plugins that get the most use here are SA2, SA3, AE400, ML4000 and EC-300. The EC-300 is for fun but the other tools are daily use production tools for me. They've helped my current 9-5 for 18 years now (well not the SA3, that's newer but I dig it). No complaints. Bullet proof.

I have and use many of the previous major version. I didnt upgrade to current because of the outrageous cost. Insulting. In general they are reliable, sound good and are tuned to be musically useful. However I use them less these days because of the small GUI which is hard for me to read. For me its just not worth the upgrade price to get the resizable GUI.

If they performed better, I would prob update the ML8000 limiter on sale at least.
Maybe when I get my mac studio...

I understand they supported that generation of plugins for a long time but to do the giveaway to onboard many new customers and ask for the upgrade fee came off as dishonest. Many people who received that notice do not know of that history and have resentment if not hostility. It boggles my mind why they didn't make that a free upgrade and earn good will. It effectively nullified the gift.
