I appreciate all additions and enhancements, but never when something existing is changed. This is one of the most frustrating things with software, actually.

Reason for that, old projects will be broken, and there is a high potential that something you love or really got used to doesn't work any more.
It's a different plugin name/ID so the two live side-by-side. You'd need to keep the old version installed if you wanted to open old plugins, but as long as you did that, you should be able to recall your old projects. That said, if you're on a new Mac or something else where the old version no longer works at all, that may not be feasible.

I barely ever remember to do it, but I need to get in the habit of printing stems.

You wrote the reason why this it's an option just to keep the old version yourself. Features and technical updates are mixed. :-)

I want to emphasise. The main issue is that when you know an instrument inside out you know exactly what it can do and how you use it. Maybe you love certain aspects of it very much. Now when an update just change everything it's super frustrating. It's like losing the device you loved.

At the moment it's like discontinuing ABL3.2, when I don't miss anything?

Yeah, sometimes I think about things as I type.

I'm landing on the Valhalla approach: it's best to leave yourself room to modes at the end of the parameter list, so that they can be dropped in later on without breaking compatibility as new modes get added.

That said, I really like this distortion (saturation mode). Never used ABL2 but I get it now. For bass sounds it's pretty sick.

The manual says "ABL does not respond to pitch bend information" but it's certainly doing a +/-24 bend over here. Would love to be able to configure this. Another small request for version 3.4 I guess. ;)

Yes, the Valhalla approach, how you call it, is the best thing. Add things, don't just change existing things.

I'm not saying I don't like 3.3, but yes I'm quite annoyed that you lose 3.2 with the update. I have cases (not always) were I prefer the 3.2 sound to 3.3. So it feels like a downgrade at the same time.

Glad I found this thread before updating. I’ve been loving ABL 3.2.2 with Tone Projects Kelvin. Really don’t want to lose what I got now.

Remember: this is a new plugin with a different name and ID. So you won't lose what you've got. The two versions are designed to live side by side. It'll only ever be an issue if you're on Mac and suddenly the old version stops working.

You may even prefer the new version.

Ooh, new update…excellent! Was just checking for one last week after noticing some crazy drawing glitches in some views of the UI on Big Sur.

The long-awaited return of shuffle is finally here! Would have been nice to have a knob for it instead of just a few preset amounts, but it's better than nothing. Edit: Never mind! It does have a Shuffle knob on the Setup page.

Still sounds fantastic. Roland really should have just licensed this instead of making their own emulations. Would love to have this emulation in my TB-03.

Still no sign of the Reason rack extension update.

OK, its hardware so it wont do as much, but you can't get more authentic, zero CPU drain and you can play it whilst sitting on the toilet :o
Yeah - Behringer absolutely nailed it with the TD3. But honestly - not trying to be gearsl-tty or anything, but you really feel one 303 is enough? :clown:

It's in the setup page :tu:
Thus annoying. They couldn’t find room for it on the main GUI?
Doesn't look all that annoying to me. :D

I don’t know. I’d usually want shuffle available at the same time as I was writing in the step sequencer. You tend to tweak shuffle depending on the pattern you are writing. But here you need to flip between two windows? For a 303? I’m sorry but it’s not like a 303 is short on space. Again it’s something that was perfect in ABL2 and was changed for no reason. Why require diving into a tabbed window.

Not a deal breaker or anything (as long as it’s automatable), just a bit weird.
There is also a menu option for accessing common shuffle modes. But it probably is as annoying as changing the view. The reason 3.0.0 didn't have a shuffle knob is because adding shuffle was a real PITA with host hard sync, at least it took me ages to figure that out.
Oh, I thought ABL2 already had shuffle with host hard sync?
Mike Janney wrote: Tue Jul 27, 2021 3:01 pm Now that shuffle is back in I'm sure you understand we don't want to redesign the whole GUI around one feature added (that again few users use). Now, if you *really* want shuffle on the main gui, feel free to suggest a placement for the knob and we might be able to add that in..
Another users posted some ideas, but could also go under where it says ABL3 on the left. Could be a small knob like the distortion knobs.

I don't think drilling more holes in the box is the way forward. You could easily damage the internals by trying to cram more stuff in there.

ABL2 didn't have host hard sync. It required a midi trigger to sync to your host.

Remember, you always had to put a midi note in to get your patterns to play in time.
