Why no VST3? VST2 is dead.

It´s great so far but yes i hoped also for a bit more things like double the LFO and MSEG, more advanced FM (like dedicated envelopes and scaling etc.).
I think i will give the demo the time to expire and then decide.
But i still love Dune 2 for using OSC as modulation source for everything so i think i will upgrade at the end.
Since we have now 2 arps i wonder why we only have one as source in the mod matrix.

Looks interesting, but as it seems it is c/r, so not for me.

Yeah, c/r sucks. I'll stay with Dune 1.

I do not know exactly how it works but you get a serial that will never change (not like an activation code that could change multiple times depending on the hardware) and which seems to be shortly checked by connecting to Synpase Audio server.

There seems to be an offline method but i never used that so far.

You can buy CM, there is DuneCM (without FX section). If Dune will be released as freeware, it's not fair, because it was on sale days ago and all people that bought it will be f**ked (including me)!
If it went freeware for instance you would not be f*cked, you paid a price you agreed to at the time because you thought it was worth it.

If it went freeware nothing would change. Expect maybe your perception of its value. But its still the same synth so no harm done.

I have tried the demo and I have to say. I'm just waiting for what Arturia published on the 11th of December. Dune3 is not bad, but if you have Serum and Icarus (Avenger will release a wavetable editor soon), you do not need DUNE3. The first import of a wave file (32bit, 2048 samples) Dune3 crashed together with Reaper.

During the Beta testing I had used tons of WAV wavetables including many that were created with Icarus and Serum and i did not get a crash while impotrting them. FWIW i mostly used Live 10 Suite in Windows 10 64-bit.

Concerning DUNE 3 and Icarus i got both and was a beta tester for both (+ i got Serum too) and iMO you could still need DUNE 3 if you alraedy got Icarus. Besides both having a wavetable editor there are many differences which of course also includes the basic sound. FWIW opposing to DUNE 3 Icarus does not have a formula editor in the wavetable editor yet.

Those who alraedy have Icarus and/or Serum should really check the demo if they need DUNE 3 too or not.

O.k. now that in played more with the new FX updates i must say it´s def. worth the upgrade for me (lol, that was fast). The distortion combined with the new filters sound super. The shimmer reverb is indeed wonderful for pads and soundscapes.
If it just had more envelopes and LFOs and for each envelope and LFO dedicated velocity scaling i would be in heaven. I´m running out of these pretty fast with so much layers so i mainly use 1,2 or at best 3 layers mostly.
I need time to judge it but so far it´s a pleasure to play with.
Where i always found also Dune 2 already one of the best synths is when you play and perform it. It reacts wonderfully to velocity and it can quite "morph" quite good with the right settings. I can´t say that for all my synths.

Ghost Dog wrote: Sat Dec 08, 2018 11:32 pm Well, it's kinda like "DUNE 2.8" in my opinion.

It sounds better, it has a WT editor and some new filters (OTOH, if D2 was at this level of sound quality, I wouldn't have sold the license; oh well, what can you do).

But ... it still feels like it's still DUNE 2 and not something new (as was anticipated).
I must admit I feel the same way, it’s probably a victim of the pre release hype!

All I realy wanted for dune 2 was a larger GUI, I am hoping they will still do that for Dune 2 as I don’t see anyhthing here other than the resized skin that I particulate need.
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

No intro price?
Is browser updated or its still same as before?
No voice (layer) mixer?

Sound is cool, noticeable that the developer give to kvr fans first the possibility to try and buy it :)

Some things I miss for this major update:
  • dragging from midi events from the host to the arp section (this would make some things easier)
  • drag & drop modulation, "right-click" quick modulation targets (as mentioned by others too)
  • a large preset/browser view with all the stuff we expect in 2018 (search, filter for types, favorites etc)
  • improved FM section with more algorithms, more operators and a better graphical editor instead of the knobs
  • the mod matrix could have a bigger view
I'm not really sure about the new "Swarm" mode. Its not a JP supersaw mode like in Diva, right?
I like the new improved GUI, the filter etc.
I've tested the wavetable editor with some custom waves from my hardware synths and it seems to work without problems. This opens the door for wavetables from known synth like massive, serum, codex, Virus etc

Dasheesh wrote: Sun Dec 09, 2018 4:08 am does it have audio rate, and is it a bigger GUI? those are my questions.
From what I can tell it does not have audio rate modulation. The GUI is resizeable.

yes it does, even D2 had it.

I got crash when load first time Dune 3, initialize patch, select WT > Edit > Clean Wavetable > Edit Partials / Harmonics (the sine icon) and try raise first harmonic. It not allways crash, but it crashing with this steps I described. Sometimes it not crash on first edit but on second edit same harmonic.
