In early '79, I was an infant living in a tent with my parents while my dad built an underground house in the woods of northern Idaho. Fun times, I'm told.

In '79 I had the worst two weeks of my life. I'll spare the details.
Re guuitar setup. Freak Me. I'm having a bare of a time with my Jackson. Every 5 songs it needs a retune. Trying to get a "happy medium of neck relief has only taken three days It's brand new and I'm almost temped to have it refretted. It's funny the bridge pop sounds darker than many guitars neck pup.
That being said. The neck isn't as thin as I suspected it would be. It's about half way between the thinnest "C" necks I own and the thickest It's certainly not the "tappers delight" I thought it would be. With that being said.... I'm having a lot of fun carving out 80's hairband rock as well as some 70's stuff.

^that's a great argument for buying online at some place that gives a no ? asked 30 day return policy. The more I've learned about guitars and how they should be, the pickier I've become. Any guitar I have to fight with to get basic functionality from is not a keeper, in my book. I fought with my first Gretsch 12er for about 10 days, then decided it was going back. About 11 years ago, now, I bought a Larrivee at a local shop. Went online, and started damning it with faint praise. As soon as my wife pointed this out to me, I went back to the store and exchanged it for the Lakewood that I still have and love. Oh, and this shop wouldn't give refunds if bought in their store. What they didn't tell me was, if I ordered the guitar from their online shop, they would've been legally obliged to refund my money if I returned the guitar within 14 days of taking possession of it. I went through this at least 10 times with them until I caught on, by which time I wasn't buying guitars like a drunken sailor. I found it impossible to get a good handle on a guitar's issues or lack thereof during a 15 minute , distracted, demo at a shop. I'd bring the guitar home, and start having to fight with it. It was insane. Anyways, I'm set. Hope you get your axe sorted!

I can't imagine buying a guitar before playing it. I've owned like two good ones my whole life anyway. For an electric it was an OLD strat, always intoned well, dream to play. And one of the Hernandezes (probably Japanese) was a serviceable classical. I had one guitar I used for years, the sort of discount SG with no finish they made at one time but it was never in tune really. I used to drive bands batty tuning, to aggravate the whole situation. I developed ways of making it intone on the fly ultimately. Guitar is a PITA.

ive done it with various things because i hate "performing" in front of others, especially with gear (synths) ive never touched before
usually an hour after closing, or on a monday as theure closed but have staff in to do instrument lessons.
