Well, I made the firmware updates, but it was a pain in the ass...
In USB mode, the BCUPDATE.exe didn't recognize the HW (I isntalled every recommended drivers though), but in Midi mode, with SendSX it succeeded.
Thanks the advices folks.

Hi lunatic!

According to the manual there should be a way to save and restore all your settings including the values.

1. Snapshot Send: Hold the "Edit" key down and press "<". That will send all current controller values to a connected midi device.

2. Single Preset Dump: Hold the "Edit" key down and press ">". This will send all settings of the current preset, including control assignments and parameter values. Read chapter 4.3.4 of the manual...

I did not try myself, but i hope that should solve your problem... :)

Hi, I'm interested in the BCF and BCR. I'm using sonar. Is it possible to control the VSTi's from mackie mode on the BCF? Or should I get both of them to be able to control the mixer and VSTi's?

Post

It is possible, but how practical that is depends very much on the VSTi.
eg works great with Audiorealism Bassline (very few parameters) whereas on more complex synths you will have to switch through the parameter list a lot.
I've stopped using Mackie mode and just map controls on the fly as i need them (in Live 5).

edit: i use a BCF

Thanks, but if you're not in mackie mode, then you don't get feedback from the sequencer, correct? ie my sonar projects won't 'snap' into place when I load them up...? So in your case, do you think it would be redundant to have a BCR along side your BCF. Also, do you still find yourself using the mouse and keyboard much with these boxes? I don't know if I'll have enough room on my desk if I get both of these. =)

Post

don't know about Sonar but my Live projects snap into place (faders, sends etc.).
I guess i'll buy a BCR in the next few months (space is an issue here as well) so i don't think it'd be redundant at all.
And yes, i still mostly use the mouse but using the BCF can be quite inspiring when trying out different combinations of synths, drums etc or arranging a track live.

Hi guys,

I thinking about grabbing one of these behringer controllers, just wondered which one does the job best the BCR or the BCF?

Which is mean to be used for what?

Cheers :)

i guess motorized faders are really cool, and there's the pseudo-mackie mode iirc, but i went for the bcr, because it has more controllers.

i am thinking about getting a second box sometime when i can afford one, and it's likely to be another bcr, but ymmv.

hi, thanks a lot for this post, it contains top usefull info ;)

i wondered if there was an effective way to set the length of an encoder run ?
i mean, i want to keep it control from 0 to 127, but i'd like to make less than a whole turn to reach the value 127. let's say half a turn or 3/4 turn would be perfect.

is there a way ?

Speed of the BCR's encoders aka 'resolution 96 192 384 768'

hmpf. my bcf2000 is acting up since yesterday evening. one of the faders (standard cc assignments, 0-127 value range) somehow changed its value curve. it keeps sending 0 until where usually value 120 would be located and then jumps to 127 in the remaining 7 steps.

HELP.

i didn't do anything and i've got no idea how to get rid of that behaviour again. i tried to wipe the controller info already, reflashed the firmware but without any luck.

anyone got an idea?

thanks Mokita :D

I had a look with XVI32 on the factory presets, and other presets I downloaded from behringer website (i don't have my BCR yet, i'm getting info in order to decide i I buy one)...

i wasn't able to locate any "resolution" text string ?!
i found them in the BCF presets, but none in the BCR ones. Is there any way to insert them in a BCR preset, and if yes, how ?

thanks

I will this test later for you if you can wait a fews days (pakupaku)

sure ! this would help a lot ;)
thanks

Hmmm maybe looks here http://bcontrol.bc.funpic.org/viewtopic.php?t=104 and talk to him because the sysex file that i use there are no resolution numbers when i look inside the sysex file that i use :? or maybe works this only for the BCF 2000 presets ????

BCR2000: the hidden truth

----- Trick 1 -------

Title: How to change the resolution and the acceleration of the rotary controls?

------------------------

Why: To go from 0 to 127 (or higher with 14bits) with only 1/4 of turn, for example.

--------

How:

--------

1) Make your preset
2) Remember the number(s) of the rotary(ies) you want to change (the code displayed by the display on the unit when you do EDIT+rotary)
3) Export your preset and get the .syx file with Midi-Ox or with any other program.
4) Find an hexadecimal editor (like Biew http://biew.sourceforge.net/ ) and open the .syx file
5) Locate the string "encoder NUMBER" (where NUMBER is the one you rememberd on step 2). Shortly after this, you would find ".resolution 96 96 96 96".
6) modify the numbers (the first seems to be the normal speed, the second when you turn the rotary faster,...).
7) Try and experiment with values :p
