I have a spectrum analyzer built-in to a graphic EQ as part of my hifi system ... it's useful for checking mixes, and does look pretty. Also useful for comparing to commercial mixes. I'm sure I'd manage fine without tho. The one in my DAW is more accurate.

Oof yeah, I'm glad I found it. I only did because I thought the JSQ-60 was either an audio interface, or some sort of effects unit thingy for the chorus. I had remembered it in the back of my head from some YouTube video or something like a couple days before I found it (I only found it a couple days ago, too), and for some odd reason I felt I needed to find it again, it was bugging me, lol. And I thought it was like some audio interface, or effects unit. I was wrong. It's a sequencer, lol.

I honestly don't get why everyone loves sequencers/arpeggiators. I never use them, and I prefer longer notes to short little, repetitive ones. But hey, that's just my opinion.

your daw has an unlimited sequence length.
many standalone will go up to 64, maybe 128. many 16 notes max.

i use them because i like repetition, but i allow them to drift in and out of time, creating new textures as the layers change over time.
while that's happening, i can then play along using guitar, keys, theremin or whatever

it depends what you are aiming to make in the end, if you are writing music with lots of melodic changes and chords, most standalone seq. will not be for you
