Arturia V Collection 8 official thread

For some strange reason, "today" ASC showed Analog Lab V/5 as not available for installing saying it needs Windows 8+ 64 bit. IIRC, yesterday, I could see the install button against it. I am on Windows 10 and I just finished updating all my V Collection 7 plugins. I had to download Analog Lab V/5 manually, after which ASC shows it as installed. However, when I click on it, the General tab says "no description found...". This is not the case for Analog Lab 4 or any other plugins.
Just thought to share here in case it is a temporary issue with ASC.

I'm using the INIT JUPE-8 template in Diva and the behavior is far too different to compare 1:1. It could be just me, but when I *do* get it close enough in those patches where I use key follow with max resonance and filter envelope maxed out, the Jup8V v4 sounds better to me. YMMV.

I was having a similar issue, with VC8 showing a generic Arturia logo instead of the correct artwork and the new plugins not having individual icons. I also had downloads that kept sticking and couldn't install anything properly.LoveEnigma18 wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:02 pm For some strange reason, "today" ASC showed Analog Lab V/5 as not available for installing saying it needs Windows 8+ 64 bit. I just uninstalled the Arturia Software Center and downloaded/installed the new version and now I have the correct icons, descriptions and downloads are working properly. The version I downloaded was 2.2.0.62. Hopefully this will help you...

I couldn't activate it with a license for 4, demo mode only. But anything Arturia is quite flaky nowadaystelecharge wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 4:06 pmOK, thanks. I saw a post on another forum where an Analog Lab 4 user said v5 wouldn't activate, and speculation that it is a paid upgrade.SLiC wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 3:56 pm Pretty Sure AL5 is a free upgrade from AL4, I have V6 only and when I downloaded AL5 it hast come up with a demo screen, seems to be fully working.

I suspect that's to prevent users upgrading to AL5 then deactivating AL4 for resale and licence transfer. If that were possible you could conceivably create endless free licencestelecharge wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 3:40 pm FWIW, I don't see AL5 in my account on the Arturia website, but it does show in ASC as a product under Analog Lab 4.

Thank you for your suggestion. Strangely enough, I did the exact same thing and the problem I mentioned about Analog Lab V not available for install apparently happened after that. For me icons were fine, but downloads kept sticking as you mention. I also observed that (if you clicked Update All) cancelling a stuck download made the next download and install fast, but only for one instance. After that it again stuck and I restarted ASC several times. After many long hours, finally everything is updated.andrew71 wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 5:29 pmI was having a similar issue, with VC8 showing a generic Arturia logo instead of the correct artwork and the new plugins not having individual icons. I was already a fan, but I am further impressed by these new updates and additions. While I am not sure I will upgrade to V Collection 8 "now" ($149 for me), I think their upgrade pricing is more than fair. There is absolutely nothing to complain. They always give Analog Lab major versions as free updates along with free updates to existing instruments, which means even without spending any money everyone gets something when the new V Collection is out. Their products show their dedication and hard work and their support is probably the best I have experienced yet. V Collection (and Pigments) are products of high value in my opinion. Can't appreciate Arturia enough. Thank you for everything you do!

stage-73 v2 seems like a big upgrade to me too. Much better.

UM holy crap I had no idea the ob-xa was this good. This upgrade is kind of huge.
edit: I also LOVE the fact Arturia is backing away from drowning their patches in effects. I want the synth character first, effects are icing, not the cake.
edit 2: I literally just clapped to myself after playing a few jupev4 patches. Well done Arturia. You've pulled some of your synths out of the uncanny synth valley and into the "feels like a real machine" space. Just a great upgrade worth the upgrade price.

Nice and fair that you can upgrade as a Single from Jup V3 to Jup V4, and sad that that's no other path to people that own V-Collection to upgrade just the Jup, only the V-Collection upgrade.XpanderDude wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 4:37 pmThat's exactly what it was - I am not a V collection owner; I have a bunch of singles I've acquired over the years. The same thing had happened when Matrix 12V went to V2 as well.waltercruz wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 4:26 pmWhere do you see a $29 upgrade path? By chance, do you have Jup-8V single, not bundled on Collection? I can only see a $299 upgade path for the whole collection...XpanderDude wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 4:22 pm Yeah, since I am an owner of v3, the offer to upgrade to v4 for 29 bucks seemed like a low-risk proposition.

Uh...ok I'll bite. Why is that unfair? They sell single products and they sell a bundle. If you own the bundle why would you feel entitled to single upgrades? This isnt some ala carte thing. You already get a huge discount off on the bundle.waltercruz wrote: Wed Dec 09, 2020 6:43 pm Nice and fair that you can upgrade as a Single from Jup V3 to Jup V4, and sad that that's no other path to people that own V-Collection to upgrade just the Jup, only the V-Collection upgrade.![]()

I demoed the Jup V4 last night and it's excellent. I preferred it to the Roland Cloud version, which I've never thought very highly of honestly. I could get the two dialed in very close, but each time I ultimately preferred the Arturia, which also seemed to have a wider sweet spot, felt punchier, and had better sounding resonance. Big upgrade there.
If I could update just the single synth, I totally would. Alas, I will wait for the sale. The $200 upgrade price is too much right now (these post-Black Friday releases really come at a bad time for many budget-wise) and I can wait.
