Because of Triaz?davidka wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 9:55 am I wonder why so many people sell XO licenses in the marketplace now. Am I missing something?
Atlas 2 or XO?

Triaz looks nice, but I can't really go back to something that doesn't have a cloud. That was XO's breakthrough, going through name by name when you have tens of thousands of samples is crazy.
I think it's more likely cos people have got bored with the lack of updates, and want something newer and shinier. XLN just released a new XO the other day, Dusty Gold, for $40 - half the cost of Triaz. https://www.xlnaudio.com/products/xo/xo ... io_citizen . It's not very inspiring as progress for the platform.
I still love XO, but we're all aware of the shortcomings. XLN have missed a lot of easy wins by now.

I think a combo of Ableton 12 and Triaz kind of makes XO redundant now.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:08 pmTriaz looks nice, but I can't really go back to something that doesn't have a cloud. Triaz has far better sequencing and sound altering cpabilities and Ableton's new browser does the job of similarity searches.

Actually it was Atlas’ breakthrough in the commercial market. XO came out a year after.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:08 pmTriaz looks nice, but I can't really go back to something that doesn't have a cloud. We have some updates planned to make the handling of tens of thousands of users samples far betternoiseboyuk wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:08 pm

Implementing the 'Space / Cloud' thing would be fairly easy to do, but we don't want to copy the others that have used this approach. But we'll be adding some optional automatic AI based tagging / sorting, and reworking the way it handles linking of lots of libraries etc.
But even so, we'd like to keep this AI stuff optional for the user if possible, since hand tagged and curated sounds (like the included Triaz library as an example) still gives a better and more useful browsing experience in our opinion.
Even in the current version, you don't need to go through name by name. You can just enter poreview mode and hold your finger down on your keyboard's arrows to very quickly preview hundreds of samples, or use the drum randomzier to pick simialr sounds etc

If you could add the ability to sample into TRIAZ, edit and loop slicing, you'd have hands down, the perfect productwave alchemy wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 3:41 pmWe have some updates planned to make the handling of tens of thousands of users samples far betternoiseboyuk wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:08 pm

There's a fine market gap these products indeed touch. I'm not much of a sample hoarder, and still managed to get quite some gigabytes worth of oneshots and loops.
I'm not alone to say that smarter ways to handle our existing samples is very welcome.

If you're still open to suggestions and the cloud concept is that easy to do, you could do your own variation by using an X/Y pad instead maybe - fast movements make drastic changes to the sound, small movements smaller variations. For me something like this is always going to be preferable to keyboard arrows and even tags. Beyond around a dozen, I don't have the words to describe the tonal differences in 5,000 kick drums...wave alchemy wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 3:41 pmImplementing the 'Space / Cloud' thing would be fairly easy to do, but we don't want to copy the others that have used this approach. Me neither. I can also build drum kits in XO so superfast. Don't care much for the sequencer, butt I will use Logic's seq. Doing so does rule out using XO's Accentuator though.noiseboyuk wrote: Fri Mar 08, 2024 12:08 pm Triaz looks nice, but I can't really go back to something that doesn't have a cloud.

You actually can use the XO sound-finding tools with another plug-in quite easily. Launch instances of XO and the other plug-in so they're both open. Search for your sounds in XO by finding its dot in the Space map, and then ctrl-drag the selected dot to a slot in any other plug-in or into an audio track of your DAW or a file folder location. I've used it that way with Triaz and Groove Agent, and also for building drum patterns in an audio track, and I expect it'd work the same with Atlas.killmaster wrote: Sun Jan 16, 2022 1:38 am from the sound of it, it seems like they should just combine the best of each into one product.
(I have a Windows on ARM computer, and Atlas is one of the small minority of music programs that doesn't run on this platform, so I can't test it.)
My big wish for the XO sequencer is variable length tracks for polyrhythm and not be stuck in only 4/4 time.
