I bet the project grew and grew over time and thus that moved the release date further and further backward (as it happens)...

Considering the loads of postponements in game development, it doesn't surprise me that the same happens with audio software. Home officing, restrictions due to Corona, flat hierarchies, and flaws in project management take its toll...

Behringer probably suffer more than most European companies, because there are severe Corona restrictions in China, as I always read.

The problem there is more the steep hierarchies… It will kill China as we know it…

Software development is really complex, even if they have experienced programmers.
It would be different if they would hire entire company that has experience doing DAW from scratch. Then at least they could assume the deadline. Otherwise, all programmers need a really good management and team overall for as smooth development as possible. Actually proper management can be more important than experience of programmers. If the team is assembled from scratch, predicting deadlines is really difficult.
It's possible that BAW gre up to the point where they produce more bugs than solutions (or every solution to 1 bug brings two new). Etc. Etc.

There's a reason why we don't have hundreds of DAWs like we have compressors, EQs and reverbs. This stuff is very, veeery complex.

Just look how much money Zuckerberg put into Metaverse and what outcome it gave. Or how Amazon failed their game department by putting idiot as the boss. Sometimes no money or the most skilled stuff can save the project.

Not sure how many of their development teams are actually in China.... their HQ is still in Germany btw.

Here's a list of their brands, or members of their Music Tribe. They bring a lot of audio/sound/music knowledge to the table. Which includes their already popular X32 EDIT mixing software. This could be a glimpse into what eventually turns out to be the Behringer Music Tribe DAW.

Where do these pictures come from?

These specific ones were screen captured from the X32 EDIT software video, that's why they are slightly blurry.

I wouldn't be surprised if Behringer changes course and adopts a non-popular DAW such as Mixbus, Internet Ability Pro, SoundBridge or MultiTrackStudio.
If you can't dazzle 'em with brilliance, baffle 'em with bullshit.

This again makes zero sense. And Mixbus is based on Open Source btw (Ardour).

They should have bought Nanostudio2 when the developer gave up on it, it is so close to being the most intuitive DAW around.

I think the idea of developing a DAW that works exactly how you want it to work has a lot of appeal to a lot of folks. People sometimes do what they want without necessarily bowing to financial considerations. Believe it or not.

What does that have to do with anything?
Behringer does nothing, ever, without financial consideration.
