No, thank you. I was looking for plain, specific instructions like these.
Unfortunately it still didn't work for me, because the Audio Units plugin isn't showing up to be blacklisted by Studio One or GarageBand.

However, I noticed GarageBand was showing a couple Audio Units plugins I deleted. I've run into this with Audio Units before, as it seems there is a cache that is scanned, and deleting or adding .component files directly to Plug-Ins > Components does not cause that cache to be updated.

That got me thinking, as I have dealt with this before, and I have now gone and deleted com.apple.audiounits.sandboxed.cache from Macintosh HD > Users > Me > Library > Caches > AudioUnitCache.

I need to go reboot now to get it to rescan, but hopefully it will show up afterwards.

UPDATE: After rebooting, the AU version is appearing in Studio One! But then I got

I was able to right-click PG-8X.component and "Open With" Terminal.app and it's now opening in Studio One!

OK not a music app but I'm so pissed at Corel - they are worse than iZotope for being rapacious corporate f**ks. They took the best graphics software - Painter, and have tried to turn it into a cash cow but almost never release bug fixes and updates, instead waiting till the next version to make people pay for fixes and minor changes. Their support is appalling so I'm posting this as an example. Basically I found on my new Mac Studio Max (with 32 GPU cores and 64 GB Ram) I was getting outstanding performance using their performance rating tool on Monterey, as I would expect. It is advertised as supporting M1 and M1's equivalent of AVX instructions so I thought it would be safe to update to Ventura but on Ventura I am seeing a performance reduction by half, it doesn't seem to be seeing the GPus or using hardware acceleration anymore (it was under Monterey). Wrote to their support and this was their idiotic response:
Thank you for contacting Corel Customer Support Services.

I really apologize for the inconvenience.

Painter 2023 will not perform on Mac ventura. I’m really sorry for that I have missed to mentioned " will 'not' perform " in previous email . This issue has been reviewed by the development team, and there are currently no plans to address it. If that changes, we will let you know via new ticket. Hope you will understand.

As of now, kindly confirm that Shall I close this ticket now ?
Obviously their intention from this is not to fix anything but wait til they can roll out another new paid update.

It's not even 2023 yet and they've already abandoned it? It has "2023" in the name! That certainly implies it should work on the current platform in 2023.

Yes, I sent a stern reply back to their 'support' saying just that

Yes and had a big push on Painter 2022 followed shortly with the new 2023 Painter to pay again.

I’ve definitely had issues with Smart Comp 2 and Easy Drummer 3. Hopefully compatibility is around the corner.

i've been running ventura since the betas started, and all my plugins in logic worked (i'm 95% 3rd-party plugins). fwiw, i could not get sublab XL installed (now fixed by the developer). but everything works (and continues to work... including me) ☺️

LOL I usually wait until I see you post about them at MacRumors before I jump into them.. You're like one of the only people other than myself that hangs out and posts there that uses their Mac for audio production it seems. Minimal was pretty quick fixing their plugins too after the release dropped. I guess they have a few others aside from myself that told them about their authorization issue, just had to wait about 3 days after release for the fixes and everything here is now 100%.. Eventide claimed they found a bunch of bugs but I haven't run into any yet (knock on wood).

My concern is hardware support. Will my trusty firewire interfaces still work? I am not worried about plugins or M2 compatibility, those will be ironed out soon if there are any…

firewire? what mac are you on? firewire was abandoned in, like, 1883 (ok, 2012). if you're really on a firewire mac, ventura is probably not a good idea. google this, see if FW works for anyone on the new OS...

My Mac is a M2 Macbook pro, but my audio interfaces are still strong and perfect for the job… Especially my Esi Quatafire is indispensable, there is no equivalent on the market. Two Mic + 2 line inputs, 8 outputs, two Midi ports and spdif all in a 1/3rd rack space tiny box. It works fine with my M2 under Monterey. But I heard rumors that some firewire code had been dropped…
Firewire though is part of the Thunderbolt specs…

i've read elsewhere about firewire not being supported on ventura. either way, it's not going to keep working (ie in future OSes).so, at some point, you'll have to change things up... or you can stay on monterey.

EDIT: is this an interface from 2008? amazing it still works at all. seriously, at some point, you'll have to move forward...

I'm still using a ESI julia from 2004 ;-)

Unlike other computer components that double frequency/capacity/whatever every X years, our ears don't evolve, so good audio interfaces remain good provided they work and are still supported.

right. it's tech that evolves, changes. the fact that you can use an interface from 2004 (!) is worth celebrating. but at some point, you'll have to move forward. and that tech evolves too (convertors, preamps, etc get better).

if it were me, i'd not update to ventura, if you're dependent on that interface, and everything is working....
